  • A nice deal considering the 1 year of service included. It could make a nice temporary or emergency phone as well.

Not sure how to clarify it any more. As Oregon14 said, do NOT move SIM cards.

Step One: Activate the TCL and click "I want to keep my number." After you finish the all the steps, the TCL will have your current number and service time added to the service that came with the TCL.
Step Two: On a different day, go into your Tracfone account. You will see your current device now listed as inactive. Click activate and "I want to keep my number" and that will move everything back from the TCL to your current device.
Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear. If you move the service by activating with a transfer, that is totally legitimate and not risky. The only potential risky behavior is just taking the SIM from this phone and just sticking it in another device.
It's on the Att whitelist under Alcatel A3 A509DL.

this is what it says on tracfone's policy page:

Your wireless number may be shared for text messaging services operated by vendors. These vendors may directly contact you on our behalf by text messages with promotions, discounts, advertisements, reminders related to your services, or other information that may be helpful or informative to you.

should i expect spam text and calls with tracfone?

I switched landlane to tracfone 2 months ago. Actually getting almost 0 spam calls now (clearly prefiltering) vs what we got through CenturyLink (no prefiltering)

On another tracfone on another line for 4 years and the last 12 months the # of spam texts and calls has dropped significantly to no longer being a daily or even weekly annoyance anymore.

Tracfone uses Verizon service so yes. You can get spam with any phone number it just depends. You can always change your number (search Tracfone text codes) yourself if you get too many.

Can the TCL be unlocked thereafter? Because now the TCL does not have a service plan attached to it after Step 2.

Here'a a guide that's often linked to within these Tracfone deals:

Still looking for some slickdeals on smartphones I can buy with my Tracfone rewards in the Tracfone store. Samsung A53 5G isn't horribly priced right now.
I used the rewards to purchase a SE second-generation iPhone, do you know how can I have it unlocked? Can I use the new phone as a upgrade to my current line, or do I have to use the new phone as a new line (with new service), so I can unlock the iPhone after 60 days?

Decent price for a cheap phone if you want to use this on wi-fi for your streaming apps on lunch break and as a backup phone once it's unlocked.

Sorry, I don't know the answer. I was able to unlock a Tracfone Samsung that was only active for 30 days, so it definitely does not have to be active for 60 days, but not sure if being active for only 1 day will cause problems.

You can use it as an upgrade and it will automatically unlock on day 60. When activating, click "I want to keep my number" and follow the prompts. Your number and remaining service will move over to the SE.

Refer to the mini guide in the Wiki for answers to most questions. Look at the section on "switch phones". https://slickdeals.net/f/15990931-tracfone-tcl-flip-2-1-year-of-service-with-1200-min-1200-text-1200mb-various-20-free-shipping
I am still confused because I think you are talking about one thing and I am asking about another.

And there have been one or two others posting about how they did it.
And everybody seems to have different goals.
And it is all getting jumbled together.

Just looking for year or calling and txt service around same price, any idea?
If you have a phone, for about $6/"month"(30 days), Tello offers 100minutes/month, unlimited text, and 500mb/month. That's a lot more text and 5x data, and a little less talk. It's a little more money, but if you're buying extra data to last the year, it's pretty comparable.

The safest way is to activate this phone. Then buy a $1 BYOP SIM for the unlocked phone you actually want to use. You activate the BYOP SIM with a transfer from this phone and the number, service time, and minutes/text/data will all move over to the other device.

Or if you are currently on Tracfone, activate this phone with a transfer from your current line. Then, the next day, reactivate your original Tracfone with a transfer back from the new phone.

Activating with a transfer is safe. It is not recommended to just SIM swap. Some people have had no problems with moving SIMs around, but others have had their service cut off.

I'll contribute to all the similar questions and answers posted each time a TF deal comes up: I've used TF for a few years. Last year I bought one of the flip phone specials for the added year of service, voice, txts and data. I recorded my current account balances and simply called CS. Explained that I had bought the flip phone just for the time, etc. and had no plans to activate it. Asked the nice lady whether she could just add the time, data, etc. to my existing TF account without my activating the new phone. I would then give the flip phone away. She said that she could do that and asked for the IMEI # which I recited to her. A couple of minutes later it was done. I refreshed my account page and sure enough, the new balances were confirmed. Easy. I usually leave the TF in my car and use an old Galaxy with TextNow at home. It has a much more memorable # than my old Google Voice service.
That works very well. I'll often carry it with me since my ISP provides numerous WiFi nodes in my area to which the phone connects automatically when I'm traveling.
Could one of you or someone help me understand what steps I should take in my situation:
I am planning to give an emergency phone to our middleschooler. I do not have a tracfone account. I currently have a very recently unlocked total by verizon iphone SE 2020 for this purpose with a tel number. I was initially thinking of porting to usmobile or redpocket etc but this seems an even better deal. What are the best steps if I were to buy this plan but retaining the existing total by verizon number on the iphone? Do i first activate a new line with tracfone on the tcl device but indicating it will be a port in for my existing number. Then as i cant move the SIMs, via the online account add the iphone SE to the account and finally transfer the minutes to the iphone? I dont want to mess up so asking ahead. Also wonder if this is even feasible or practical?

thank you!

You should have waited after 60 days to get the phone to unlock first.
Then port over number. Because now you have a locked phone.
The old phone's one year plan is up in a few weeks that's why I did it now. Waiting for the 60 days to unlock won't affect me because I don't plan to sell it right away.

Would I be able to activate the sim card on an unlocked iPhone 11 or do I have to activate the sim on the TCL phone itself?

Does adding this to my existing line extend the expiration for a full year? Or just add a year from the date I merge the plans?

My current plan expires Dec 23. Will this extend to Dec 2024 or Feb 2024?

December 2024. It just adds 12 months to whatever you have now.
