There's a big difference because the GGA2120 fixes the most common complaint from the older model, that the drip tray is plastic and tends to warp. The GGA2120 has a metal drip tray.
Let me edit this. The drip tray cover is metal, not the drip tray itself. I didn't realize anybody expected the lower drip tray not to be plastic. It is part of the body of the machine, which is plastic. I have not had any problem with warping so far. The advice I've seen is to allow the drip tray to cool before removing.
Also I prefer the controls on the top to the right side. Much easier to access than the GGA2100 with the controls horizontal along the front edge.

How does this smoke reduction work in reality? Good value including whatever's needed to keep it clean? Any tips?
I've had other grills I like but learned (too late) that there's certain deficiencies that needed remedied before first use. Like the Toshiba that a drip tray that leaked out the back, but otherwise was a great device after some foil wrap.

This Gourmia takes longer to air fry than the Cosori but only if the basket is overloaded. I make sure to use smaller amounts and spread it out.
Grilling is the strong suit. Much better than my Hamilton Beach 31605 model that requires water underneath to avoid smoke. The Gourmia has more satisfying charring and taste.
I still have not had an issue with warping of the drip tray. But I can't ignore all the related reviews from users who have owned it longer than I have. Initially I thought it was the drip plate that was warping. That is metal in this model. Then I realized they were referring to the lower drip tray itself. That remains plastic. Any perspective buyers will have to weigh that risk, and also I would make sure to measure your available space. This unit has a larger footprint than a Ninja or anything else I've owned.
