I bought this once I took a close look and realized this is the upgraded version, the GGA2120. Amazon is still selling the older model GGA2100.

There's a big difference because the GGA2120 fixes the most common complaint from the older model, that the drip tray is plastic and tends to warp. The GGA2120 has a metal drip tray.

Let me edit this. The drip tray cover is metal, not the drip tray itself. I didn't realize anybody expected the lower drip tray not to be plastic. It is part of the body of the machine, which is plastic. I have not had any problem with warping so far. The advice I've seen is to allow the drip tray to cool before removing.

Also I prefer the controls on the top to the right side. Much easier to access than the GGA2100 with the controls horizontal along the front edge.

Says it's the GGA2100. Not the 2120.

I noticed that too. Also that code is "$6 off" of $119, I imagined it was 40% off the current price target than the pointless price.

How does this smoke reduction work in reality? Good value including whatever's needed to keep it clean? Any tips?

I've had other grills I like but learned (too late) that there's certain deficiencies that needed remedied before first use. Like the Toshiba that a drip tray that leaked out the back, but otherwise was a great device after some foil wrap.

Looked at the instruction manual on the Gourmia website and it says you can use the grill function with the lid open. So I would say you could use this for KBBQ but I can't say it will work well.

That Code takes 60 dollars off, but only from seller mentioned, whose price is 149. And yes this is the other model mentioned that has front controls. I am very intrigued by this, if I hadn't gotten a nice tfal air fryer recently, I think I would try this one out. Don't have the space to justify this in addition to that.

I'm especially glad I have this now because my Cosori air fryer got recalled last week. Fire hazard situation. Millions of units recalled. Obviously the odds are extremely low anything would go wrong but I don't mind the recall because it gives me a chance to start over with a new one and do a better job turning it over and cleaning near the coils. I waited too long to do that the first time.

This Gourmia takes longer to air fry than the Cosori but only if the basket is overloaded. I make sure to use smaller amounts and spread it out.

Grilling is the strong suit. Much better than my Hamilton Beach 31605 model that requires water underneath to avoid smoke. The Gourmia has more satisfying charring and taste.

I still have not had an issue with warping of the drip tray. But I can't ignore all the related reviews from users who have owned it longer than I have. Initially I thought it was the drip plate that was warping. That is metal in this model. Then I realized they were referring to the lower drip tray itself. That remains plastic. Any perspective buyers will have to weigh that risk, and also I would make sure to measure your available space. This unit has a larger footprint than a Ninja or anything else I've owned.

On the fence with this, it looks huge! Can't think how I could even store it in standard size kitchen cabinet.

I'm confused, is this just a flat air fryer? Why would it be any better than a standard basket version?
