The Onkyo is a good solid 7.2 entry model but so are the Denon S760H and the Yamaha TSR-700. I myself preferred the Onkyo.

Does Costco even carry Yamaha right now? Can't find it online or in warehouse.

I've read a bunch on these 2. Basically consensus is they're about the same but Denon may have better auto eq. Otherwise don't Know that there's much of a difference.

I got this one in July 2022 and it's been a constant headache since then. Latest firmware. Used it mostly via ARC. Pretty often I turn on TV (receiver turns on automatically) and there is no sound out of onkyo crap. No matter what you do (settings on TV or receiver, etc), just no sound, Have to unplug HDMI cable and plug it back...
Bluetooth is a joke: nothing in my house can see it, but macbook pro. But still it disconnects all the time.
I always used Yamaha before and never had any issues. Just returned Onkyo to Costco. Waiting for Yamaha TSR-700 now to show up on sale.

I've had the same issue, no sound, with my Onkyo. However, I only have to turn off, wait a couple of seconds and turn back on. Then I have sound.

Well that sounds annoying. You using e-arc with a HDMI 2.1 cable?

Right. I can troubleshoot it from time to time different ways, but my family can not. So for them it was easier to keep Onkyo disconnected and just use TV speakers. Lol. There is no point to have this Onkyo receiver then.

Funny, I'm having the same issue with a Denon receiver. I figure it's probably the TV more than anything else. Is your TV a Sharp Aquos model by any chance?

No. I got Samsung 55" 4k NU6900 series, which used to work fine with different Yamaha receivers.

Bought this 15 days ago for 500 and reached out to customer service and they happily price adjusted. Thanks OP!

I've never used any of these newer HDMI receiver. does the audio pass through to the tv when spectrum HDMI out is connected into the input of the receiver when off? then the HDMI 1 out to the tv? I want to have it connected correctly but don't always want to use the receiver for audio. I want sound to be on the tv like normal.
I had my eye on this but the two comments above is holding me back. sounds like a headache =X

I've got an Onkyo TX-NR676. ARC worked great until it didn't (unlike you I couldn't get it working again even temporarily) so I switched to using an optical cable for the TV. When I was troubleshooting I kept reading over and over that ARC in general is an unreliable technology and that the most likely way you won't get trouble is to have the receiver and TV be the same maker but even though it's no guarantee. Hope your Yamaha works out though. The thing that irritates me about my Onkyo is they dumbed down the remote by removing some useful buttons that are present on my older 1080p model so next time around if another brand hasn't been doing that it might tip the favor in what I buy

I had the same problem. Once I turned on these settings, (hdmi cec, arc, auto lip sync) it started working fine. Find the ip address of your receiver and log into it using username password, ciuser/ciuser. Those settings are under hardware > hdmi.
