Here's a review by one person on their forum. I hope they don't require a payment method or you can just cancel right away, but keep the membership. Guess we'll see next week how good the membership is.

Definitely NOT worth it. I've had for a yr and the perks and discounts are almost non existent. No good deals on hotels outside of the US. I'm cancelling"
So now Trip Advisor wants us to pay $99 to be able to read "expert reviews" that Trip Advisor has begged from people to write for free for the last 10+ years. What started out as a friendly "community of travelers to help and advise each other in their journey" has now been monetized, with the additional carrot of a 10% discount on a hotel stay.

Puuuleeze. I've left many Trip Advisor reviews through the years, and had a pretty high traveler rating at one point, but I've naturally moved away from using Trip Advisor in recent years after their promotional (paid) reviews started taking over. With all the options available online now, TA just doesn't seem to be as honest and relevant anymore.

I refuse to believe $99 will pay for itself more than joining a hotel chain loyalty program (for free). ...in fact, a $45 annual AAA membership will provide better benefits, and will be guaranteed to work in more places, hotels, attractions, etc, for at least a 10% discount. Plus all the protection benefits for your car, like free towing, emergency gas, flat tire fixes, etc - plus you can actually call a toll free number to talk to a AAA person who can help you plan travel and find deals.

If the incentive for saving 10% on hotels and attractions is what is drawing your interest, I would stay very far away from this one.
There is actually already a subscription service to monitor your subscription services.

Guess they don't want my money
I was sent this promotion months back by Target and it did this too! Needless to say they don't have their shit together, not interested.

I was able to sign up last week via target circle, and it's probably not worth it as far was hotel rooms go. Sometimes you get better or same rates via Google search and clicking the link. If you pair the Google search with Chrome browser shopping rebate extension, like capital one shopping, you get a better hotel price. Capital one shopping portal will actually give you 30% off tripadvisor.com via email offer linked to browser extension. It works but the starting hotel price is a bit higher. Another thing, not all hotel rooms are discounted with the tripadvisor.com plus membership. If you book an excursion you'll get a 10% discount with the membership without using a coupon code, which isn't always readily available.

As someone who worked shortly at a best western, if you actually want best price for a hotel, book early and go to that hotel's actual website, check for deals under their memberaships, usually free to join. That is the way to get the best price over these meta booking sites.

Looks like you can also get a year free of Hertz elite 5 star from the TripAdvisor app by going to the member benefits and scrolling down to "access perks from our partners"

Definitely worth it for tour excursions. I had a few tours planed in Africa and I canceled and rebooked after getting the plus membership. Here's one of the savings that instantly saved a few hundred. I'm probably up to $500 saved already on 5 different tours. Plus, stacking with 30% Capital One is reminding me of the Microsoft cashback days.

Total Paid:
USD $2,575.16 USD $2,317.64
