Got this as a gift last year. Be warned that you will be spending all kinds of money on random accessories to up your espresso game once you get into it. The most annoying is that the tamper it comes with does not fit perfectly into the single walled basket. This can cause less then ideal compaction for those really getting past the basic espresso. Bought a separate tamper/distribution combo tool and bottomless portafilter.

Also started caring a lot more about the freshness of the beans I got since it actually made a huge difference between old beans you find in the stores most of the time and fresher from the roaster. You also need a decent espresso grinder for your beans if you want to use the single walled basket instead of the double walled. I got the Breville Smart Grinder Pro when it was on sale last year for $150 and it does a decent job, but you can spend way more money on a higher end grinder.
Wait until you start growing your own coffee plants. You have to set your alarm for 3 days ago to enjoy a fresh made cup with breakfast.

wait until you start roasting your own beans. Combined with all of the above, there really isn't anything better Smilie

The espresso machine will need a good grinder and fresh beans. For an accessory, you will need a good tamper.

An alternate option is the Gaggia Classic Pro for $399. This does not have a PID control.

https://www.amazon.com/Gaggia-RI9...B07RQ3NL76

You will need a good grinder to pair with either this Breville or the Gaggia. The Gaggia is a fun machine with lots of mods. This will take you into a sink hole with accessory and mods but you are now stepping into a hobby area.

Alternate to the SGP you can get a hand grinder.

These are pretty good espresso machines, but the pump pressure is too high unless you only extract in pre-infusion mode by holding the button down. Otherwise it goes right up to 12+ bar pressure and compacts the puck too much.

been using this for 3 years. great expresso machine. only bad thing is the non standard size portafilter which makes it a hassle to use with most grinders.

There's an easy mod to change the pressure (assuming it's the same as the Barista Express)

For the best coffee bean flavor, feed your cat raw beans, then wait for the cat to poop the bean out. 🤣

Looks like Breville coffee machines are one of the very few items that are actually cheaper in Australia.

This is a decent entry level machine, but if you're going to do all the work of manual espresso, consider the Gaggia classic as commented on earlier.

Best bang for the buck down under is a Breville dual boiler.

Coffee grinders are equally as important. If doing single shots only, get a manual hand grinder such as the 1zpresso jx pro. For auto, consider Eureka mignon.

Would not advise buying this and instead go for the Gaggia Classic if you like doing a lot of modifications to your machines and if you don't, the Breville Bambino BES500 which is a much better stock machine than the Infuser

the similarly priced Breville Bambino seems to be the recommended starter/budget Breville option these days.

Only problem is the steam wand, cleaning off burnt milk sucks

Overall, spot on. Though the freshness of the beans from the stores is usually not a problem with whole bean. I've never had a freshness problem from buying my beans at whole foods for example.
