My wife and I take turns putting the account in our names every 2 years. We just alternate.

You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

are you serious? why did they do that? was it an employee trying to charge stuff to it or was it for auto-bill? either case is no good but just wondering.

I would check your credit reports immediately and freeze your credit.

You really just posted your adress (with username) on a public forum? Highly recommend editing/deleting your post. Also, hello neighbor far to the north.
I posted the first address that came up in my zip code. It was to just give a whereabouts. No, not my actual address but thanks. I'm older and do stupid things time to time.

prob been with con-cast (or a subsidiary it bought) almost 40 years and estimated I sent them 60K over the years to watch TV. Will cut the cord when new Gateway arrives tomorrow. Will the App allow me to set up the new modem prior to any formal cancellation of the old account (just by virtue of disconnecting the old modem)? I have received the two cancellation emails, the second one terminating on 4/12. Want to install and activate the new stuff tomorrow, then return old equipment and cancel old account in the local store on Fri. TY>

What are the current best values and have best security for cable modem and wifi router for 200mbps xfinity that can also be current enough for future upgrades? i am thinking of returning the Xfinity Arris and Flex units so I don't have to borrow any of their stuff, even if it is included with the monthly internet service fee.

This is correct. Spent a good amount of time in their office trying to be able to use any other gateway. Real nice kid had me looking at his screen, trying everything - it literally would not allow him unless I got a more expensive plan
I was able to get an XB6 without much hassle.

I Called And Spoke With A Rep On The Phone,

Sent me to like two other different departments? Maybe thirty minutes in total. Just told them I previously had an XB3 and it was having latency/drop issues (it was "ok" honestly, if I recall correctly, as this was a couple of years ago). And that I tend to have more devices connected than the XB3 will support (which I believe the actual number is thirty). Craft whatever narrative you need to get what you want I say. As at very BEST(!!!) this advertisement is misleading by Xfinity.

They were willing to mail me an XB7. Or they said I could go into a store and they would annotate the account that I was wanting an XB8...which I wouldn't have made such an issue about, but you need to use their modem for the unlimited data at a reduced rate...and the advertisement shows an XB8 sOooOooo guess what your boy was insisting on getting? Exactly.

Went to the store. The first kid I talked to tried to give me some jazz about the XB8 not applicable for the 200Mbps package. Blah-blah-blah. I was polite but firm. A "manager" (I guess) came over and said, "Sure. No problem. Give it to him" and then immediately tried to up-sell me into an Xfinity Mobile plan. LOL.

Going to the store is more than likely going to be the key to your success. The "system" just does not seem to allow them to complete the transaction with the XB8. Over the phone there was NO(!!!) trouble getting the XB7 to apply mind you. With the XB7 though...from my "research"...you want to make sure you are getting the XB7-T model and NOT(!!!) the XB7-CM or A.

Hope that helps you (or any one else). Good luck.

I'm confused. Does this use Verizon cellular or coax xfinity lines?

Nevermind. 10G is just a silly name xfinity came up with

Yes, and Xfinity is just a silly name that Comcast came up with.

Any way to circumvent the installation fee? Online they are trying to charge me $50 for it. I might just go to a Comcast store in person to see what they can do there.

You should probably be able to get it dropped by talking to CSR on the phone. If you don't already have coax coming in, it may be harder to get them to waive the fee, but still should be possible.
