My wife and I take turns putting the account in our names every 2 years. We just alternate.

You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

Currently have XB7 with 1200 speed - Want to switch to wife's name for new plan but I work from home and need internet.

Is there a way to set up plan in her name/ which cancels our current plan but then use the same XB7 I already have so I don't have down time? Is there a way to call and have them switch the old xb7 over to the new acct? Thanks in advance if you know the steps to do this..
In my case, I was still in contract until July. I called to disconnect and would pay $50 ETF. Then set up a new account under my wife's name etc. I have my own equipment so I set it up in the next couple of days. Xfinity didn't disconnect my old internet until 2 weeks later. They just want you to have enough time to switch to a new service which is nice. I still haven't received the final bill yet from the old account. It's been over 2 weeks now.

Any tips for no down time transition before the new modem arrives? Apparently my parents tried this and they cut service right away.

Lucky you. I can't get them to stop the billing for the old service despite of a couple of hours wasted in 4 support sessions, and multiple promises. It's a clowntown.

After toggling the wifi off online I still see xfinitywifi and another one called XFINITY and when I try to connect to the latter I get a weird screen that mentions PEAP and MSCHAPV2 and asks for a CA certificate? Looks like that is the hotspot signal that you need app to connect to.

My wife signed up Sunday and the equipment shipped Monday. We currently have xfinity 400mbs and plan on canceling after we get the equipment. We have been getting non stop calls from xfinity leaving messages about existing service and needing to speak to us. Most calls are outsourced from I believe India and are barely audible. I blocked most and plan on calling this weekend when we have time for the switch. If they ask or say we can't, I'll just lie and say we're getting a divorce and I'm moving out. And the bills are going to be in her name

They're calling to tell you that someone else signed up for service at your address and ask if that's correct and you want to move service/cancel. I answered the call and told them to cancel the service two days in the future (when I expected to already have the new modem activated) and that's what they did.

I don't think this comes with unlimited data
The data cap is not being enforced in the DMV area as we speak.

Get two used Motorola SB6183 modems and your own wireless router, switch back and forth.

Because this thread just won't die... Wink

I seem to recall that there was something at one point about them giving you a free pod "if" your home needed it.

Happy with the service/speed so far and/but my house definitely needs a pod or two.

Anyone had any luck getting them to throw one in...?

How does this work? The Internet service itself was terminated from the ISP side.
