Overkill for extension cords in an emergency. Use this if you want to energize your whole panel via ats or interlock. Make sure you need this much power as a 5 gallon tank of gas gets you like 5 hours of runtime...unless you are running a central ac, it's overkill... even 5k watt units can run fridges lights, tv internet and a window shaker....

Not really. I ran 2 12 Guage cords with splitters to run 4 refrigerator/freezers and a 10 Guage off the 30 amp to run my furnace/ac and well pump. Prob not the best choice but the gen handled it like a champ. I've done it 4 or 5 times now with no trouble. Also used it to run 2 grain bin fans simultaneously to freeze dry corn for the winter for about 8 hrs at a time. Firm believer in breaking in the motor tho. I have over 100 hrs on mine and no trouble so far.
