Got a 3-bike version of this about two years ago. Dented the hatch on our CX-5. Also no good space on the CX-5 to put the side straps. Ended up putting it on an xB, it has thicker metal. Never actually used it on the CX-5. Be careful depending on what vehicle you use these on. I'd recommend a hitch one any day, if you have that option.

Allen Sports is a "no name brand"? Ummm. It is the most popular best selling detachable bike rack company. Best selling rack on Amazon and Walmart. Haha. Do you realize that the Allen Sports Deluxe bike trunk mount has 32k ratings with a 4.5 out of 5 rating? The only difference between the black and green models is the color of the holding mount. It also retails for $50-60.

I have the 2 bike rear trunk rack and it works great. If you think you need to spend like $300 for a rear rack to transport a bike safely, you are mistaken.

It's a little bit tedious to put on and take off, but I've had this for about 3 years to carry my gravel bike on the back of a Honda Accord and have no real complaints. Great price.

why wouldn't i entrust the well being of my car, my bike, and the unfortunate person following me on the highway to a 15 dollar no name brand bike rack?

I personally bought a 3 bike rack version for $45 today. I would most likely only use it to transport a bike 2 miles to my town bike path so this one fits the bill.


But yea as the other guy said, if you're using this to drive long distances, I would be a little less confident on the strength of these things. The hitch version would probably be the way to go. Especially if you own like a thousand dollar bike, it'd probably be not the best idea to cheap out here.

I have a spoiler on my Altima but because the rack is further in on the trunk, I only use this rack on the farthest bike mount spot so I use it perfectly fine with my Marin mountain bike. I think 2 bikes would be quite cramped though. I would do like 30 highway miles total trip to the trail. No issues at all.

I also bought the recent 2 bike compact Allen rear rack but it doesn't fit at all with the spoiler. It would fit fine if my car didn't have a spoiler though.

I also have the swagman standard roof rack and I also made a 2 bike mount roof rack that I pair it up with a universal roof rack. I will say the Allen 2 bike rear truck rack is the most convenient of the bunch but I also live in NY so these trunk racks are technically illegal for me even though I have been using them for years and never got a ticket. It is what it is.

It takes like one minute to put it on the trunk. Pretty easy and sturdy. I have no doubt in it. The straps won't break.

I got a bike roof rack as well and it takes much longer to set up as I got to install the universal roof rack, install the roof bike mounts, take off the front wheel, lift the bike on to the roof and lock it up. With 2 bikes on the roof, it is longer. I refuse to spend big bucks on a bike rack where the cheaper racks gets the job done. Lot of the expensive roof racks are way overpriced and actually reduce gas mileage too. Not for my personal use.

I had one and my bike was on it on the 405 in LA and I drove over a bump and one of the hooks became undone. The bike fell off my car and I had to leave it because there was no other way to get it back on. The whole rack snapped. Never again.
