Been using it for 7 months now and happy with the Onkyo. Actually tested the Yamaha TSR700 and Denon S760H too, but this sounded best of all.

Think the Denon or Yamaha will be discounted soon?

How's the sound quality for music? I have a Denon and it's good for movies, but not the best for music

Coped this off flea bay yesterday for 250 open box. Quickelectonics had 31 of them. Sold out now. I'm sure they are returns.

I have this from previous Costco deal. Good AV receiver. No problems I noticed yet with my klipsh RP and Apple TV connected to it for Epson 4100 projector.

Don't buy my return. This crap doesn't work well. ARC disappears for no reason, bluetooth is a joke.

Also been holding out for another Yamaha deal. Snagged one the first time but would like another for my outdoor patio speakers.

I had the Yamaha 700 model from Costco. I hated it because I routinely had HDMI dropouts or issues, where I'd power my AppleTV on (thus powering on TV and receiver) and I'd get a black screen on the TV perhaps 20% of the time, even after firmware updates. Super annoying, low GFAF.

I replaced them (I had 2) with the Denon 960 model. Flawless ever since. After going through the audio setup process (pinging sound from all the speakers a few times with my sub and 5 speakers attached) the sound is flawless. Even better, I paid $249 at Costco. I think the sub sound is better with the 960 vs. the Yamaha.

I've not tried this particular Onkyo model in comparison. However, it's a competitor to the above Yamaha and Denon models in similar price point; I would expect very similar performance.

The benefit of buying at Costco is easy returns; if there's an issue, one just returns it, gets the money spent back, and can then buy something else (or not, as they desire).

ARC worked fine for about 3 month only, then started to act up. Bluetooth was always an issue: only macbook pro was able to connect to it, but still with frequent disconnects. Other PC laptops weren't able to even see onkyo's bluetooth.

yamaha sub out volume is low. had to use a preamp. the great thing about yamaha tsr700 is the L/R preout for another external power amp. that denon $249 was awesome deal. also grabbed it. onkyko has a nice modern gui and 2 hdmi out
