Here's the TL;DR version of this watch: you need this is you're a) during ultra endurance racing (100-200+ miles), b) if you're hiking/trekking for a couple weeks at a time, or c) cannot possibly be bothered to charge the battery every 2 weeks.

Otherwise, if you're a runner get something from the Forerunner line, if you do multi sport racing the Fenix line, just an everyday user that wants a smartwatch that lasts longer than 12 hours, the Venu line.
DC rainmaker is your friend.
i am lost now that garmin has so many different models.. how are these different from fenix or epix or delta or other garmin watches?

No maps is a dealbreaker for anyone doing serious trail running or hiking.
Nice to have feature but I don't use maps much on my 945. Something like trailforks or Gaia is more useful IMHO.

For most people the Fenix 6 Pro that's been on sale recently for $350 is a better choice. It has maps and music with the only tradeoff being battery life. This is really niche for Ultra Marathoners and other sports where the 80 hour GPS tracking capability really comes into play. The built-in flashlight is another killer feature for this watch that isn't on any other Garmin.
No flashlight on this Enduro first gen. Enduro 2 has it

For all the people complaining about the complexity of the Garmin line, see the above.

I do a lot of fitness/sports stuff without actually doing triathlons and do some outdoorsy stuff, and my last two swaps have been "downgrades" (Fenix 6s to FR745, FR745 to FR255). The new GPS on the 255 is so much better than anything else I've used, and it's so light compared to models higher on the chart.

Edit: Oh snap, they released a FR265 with an AMOLED screen. May be upgrading.

I stumbled upon a Fenix 6X Solar Pro on clearance at Target this past Friday. Picked it up for $269. I'm still in the process of learning what the watch can do. I knew Garmin made some nice watches but had no idea how impressive they really are. They're pricey (at least for me) regular price. But it's a gorgeous piece of hardware and stacked with functionality. If you find one your wallet likes jump on it.

I have 7x, and I use the flashlight a lot. Touch screen maps are nice, but takes forever to load sometimes…it has to do with the gps signal, because sometimes it's on fast, and sometimes it's thinking a lot…

The killer feature for me on the Fenix that's missing on the Enduro is the music. I love not having to carry my phone on a run or a ride. If I'm going to buy in this class, it's going to be the Fenix. My daily driver is an Instinct, though.

The only reason I won't purchase a Garmin watch is because I can't understand all the different models. Comparisons or not, I'll always feel like I'm "missing" something. Even the top tier watch at $2,700 would be fine for me if it incorporated everything.... Great price for this watch though!
If you want Garmin and you want "everything" then either get the super sport Descent Mk2i or the luxury (for a smartwatch) MARQ series.
