You take your squad in derelict spaceships and explore. You have limited energy. While you're moving you just a point moving around a grid map. You cant see what's around you unless scan which uses energy. You can also sneak to ambush enemies or run to save energy.
Combat starts out pretty straight forward but gets more interesting as your different classes built up. You can summon different drones, hack shields and all sorts of sci-fi stuff you don't usually see in a deck builder.
The game has a bare bones over arching story but you meet lots weird characters in the derelicts with just really strange side quests.
Overall I think it's an interesting and well thought out game with some flaws. I did run into quite a few bugs where I'd get stuck in menus or nothing would happen after combat was over. I never really lost much progress but it was annoying. I played on steam deck but it seems like a lot people had similar issues.
If you like the base game I'd recommend the dlcs. The base game feels like it needs some added content. The base game feels like it needs some added content. They add new enemies, locations, adds raider and friendly(ish) bases inside the derelicts, and a crafting system that is way better than waiting to get lucky on random drops.
