Gosh, Banana Republic has absolutely TRASHED their site.

I look at a winter coat - hey, it's flippin' cold out, I'd love to see if this coat is fitted or straight! NOPE. ITS BREEZY OUT, Y'ALL GOTTA SEE IT BLOWING.

I look at an "UNTUCKED Oxford Shirt" - GO TO HELL - I'M TUCKING IT IN FOR THE PHOTOSHOOT, NORMAL PEOPLE BE DAMNED.

What the hell, BR team? The pricing of items is overlaid on demo shots, filtering tools have been pared to the bare minimum, item photos are limited to a single model/size....

and FFS BR, stop skimping on the fabric and making everything skinny. Believe it or not, there are some normal weight men that have thighs and calves that make your crap look like under armor compression gear.

And the high water inseams make every pair of pants look like football pants or capris.

Yes I tend to favor the tapered ones as they still are slim at the leg but allow more room in the butt/thigh area. That used to be the biggest problem at BR, back when they had the Dawson fit (relaxed but huge leg openings. The tapered fit used to be called the Mason fit and some still indicate that on the tag. The straight ones are their "baggiest fit". The skinny would be their tightest fit especially in the hip/butt thigh area. The slim would be in between the skinny and tapered. BR's sizing can be wonky so sometimes I can wear a skinny fit but I don't like my pants to look like I painted them on, but I also don't like the a wider leg opening so the tapered has long been my fave. Sometimes, when these go on sale I order two, or one a size up so if it doesn't fit I can certainly make my money back.

Are you local to a BR. I know these days its a foreign concept but going to the store and trying all 4 fits in the same size is the best way to get an idea of which fit looks best on your body type, again keeping in mind when you order online that fit may not be the same. Sometimes I can wear a medium sweater and sometimes a small, other times a large. It's that inconsistent, but the rapid movement chinos have been a safe bet generally.

Brand archetype has gone from Middle Aged blue collar bank managers to Kanye Wests kids. Sad because they're legacy stuff was good before they went budget Gucci …and yea they've always skimped on material. One day a shirt could measure 30 inches center back and the next you're wearing a crop top

I got bit on the recent Spyder underlayer also - the large size came up half way to my knees. I thought the pandemic fixed most of the hipster skinny problems, and there's been a come back of 'dad jeans'... but in case you're in the market, I found that 'athletic cut' actually means for anyone who's ever not sat in a chair all day tweeting and maybe has ridden a bike or lifted a couple of weights once in a while. I found at places like BR that my waist needed a 32", but my thighs and calves need a 36", which looks ridiculous unless you want to re-define 'fanny pack'. You might try something like the amazon basics kahki athletic cut. No hassle returns and for $17, I don't cry when they wear out.
