Had SPD advertised this drive's actual condition in the first place (manufactured in 2019, minimally used for testing, 3yr warranty provided by VENDOR, not MANUFACTURER), and had I ordered it knowing that up-front (which I likely would not have done), I would have kept it.
SPD provided a pre-paid return shipping label and am supposed to receive a FULL REFUND (as in no restocking fees being applied). Assuming that happens, SPD will be out bi-directional shipping costs and may need to spend a little bit re-packaging the drive.
If enough people end up returning their drive(s), such that it hurts SPD in their bottom line, it may get them to correct their deceptive business practices. Until they change, I will not be purchasing from this vendor again, and I agree w/ previous posters in this thread who've suggested that SlickDeals should ban deals from SPD.
I have a 15% recycle coupon that I can use on 18TB Red Pro drives with 5 year warranty making them about $250 before taxes.
Seller refurbished showing same label as these new...
Fortunately, both drives ended without any errors/bad sectors.
Both(purchased 2 HDDs) show 27 DEC 2019 on the label like other buyers.
Yes, physically brand new drives and well packed to avoid shipping damage.
Well, I completely agree with both groups of members.
One who should return and block this seller's deal to make corrections for the future.
However, I decide to keep these - it would be also hard to argue with the seller to return&get full credit without a restocking fee argument since both drives are NOT DOA or defective.
Yes, it would be great if they had clear/true product condition
- OPEN BOX(Pulled from OEM), Like NEW with about ** hours of use.
- No Manufacture Warranty, ONLY Seller Warranty
My last hope will be they keep their business open for the upcoming 3 years for my warranty especially,
not closing or intentional business name(or ownership) change for disqualifying this vendor's warranty policy.

FYI, they didn't fight me in anything regarding my return for a full refund and they provided me a prepaid label so return was simple. Will see later this week if the actual refund is also just as simple.
I do have to check temps using crystaldiskinfo, and put fan on it to keep temps down.

SPD advertised these drives as NEW, not "Like NEW" (where "Like NEW" is another way of saying "gently USED"). By shipping USED drives ("gently USED" still means USED), they know that they don't have a legal leg to stand on, so presumably they know that it'll be less costly for them to issue FULL REFUNDS (and cover return shipping costs) for whatever percentage of customers who request it.
A chargeback could include additional penalties/fees, and there's always a risk that once a customer wins a chargeback/dispute, they won't return the product to the seller thereafter. Thus, it's considerably less risky for SPD to pay for return shipping, then issue the FULL REFUND after they've received the returned product.
SPD could also get banned by their CC processors (i.e. PayPal and/or Amazon Payments) should they have too many chargebacks/claims/disputes filed against them, which would effectively put them out of business. That's yet another reason to not rock the boat and just issue FULL REFUNDS (inclusive of return shipping costs) for those who request it.
Finally, SPD clearly got away w/ sales of these drives to a lot of customers. In this thread alone, multiple people (including you) have advised that they're keeping their purchases, even though they're fully aware that they've received "gently USED" drives which were advertised as "NEW."

I'll do a final update once the RMA replacement is complete.
