I'm using them for things like :
- sabnzbd unpacking so I'm not beating up the spinners in my main array
- older game consoles that benefit from the seek times and less heat, and perhaps better long term reliability
- kids PCs (they're backed up, anyway)

The other brands are the high end well known brands. Samsung and Crucial in particular are high quality and will get a premium.
I do think theres a very solid argument that Samsung & Crucial are higher quality.
Like if you compare the 1 star reviews on Amazon the TEamgroups have ~4% 1 star reviews, WD has 3% 1-star and Crucial has 2%. I think the rate of 1 star reviews is pretty good indiation of a product quality generally. And we're talking about 1000's of reviews for each brand which is a very good sample size and not just fakes or such.
Still we're talking about failure rates of like 1% / year for SSDs generally so plus/minus on that is still a very small % of drives failing for any brand. Even if we argue that Samsung is 1/2 the failure rate of Teamgroup then most people won't pay 2x the price to go from 4% failure rate to 2% failure rate.
Also apples to apples they aren't literally 2x the cost here
The Teamgroup 2TB drive is ~$75
You can find WD or Crucual for around $110 right now.
WD $110 : https://www.amazon.com/Blue-NAND-...073SBRHH6/
Crucial MX500 is $120
Samsung is definitely the most expensive though.
Prices are dropping and the Teamgruop was $85 a month ago. The cheaper brands might lead the way in price cuts so we might see Crucial and Samsung cut their prices some too after other brands cut.
