Costco Next Program ?

I checked it out and the deals are good, but only on limited items. No carryons and only one backpack.
Good for luggage sets and bags.
As I am a backpack & carryon only traveler, not much for me. The Amex deal is good with the 15% sitewide sale going though.

For me I was debating between the Travelpro Maxlite 5 which is roughly 1/2 the price and light weight vs Platinum Elite. Ultimately, I looked at a bunch of reviews on YouTube and concluded I only wanted to do this once and it will last the rest of my life.
We have used this 3-4 times and it is worth it.

I desperately needed a checked bag, and I wanted a new carry on to replace my currently oversized 24.5" tall carry on.
This one is still "oversized" at 23" but less so and higher quality. From what I can tell airlines don't care about oversized as long as it fits in the bin, even the recommended ones on wirecutter are over the 22" "limit". I've never once seen mine or anyone's carry on checked for size domestically (even on Spirit). I've only seen it on budget airlines in Europe.
Anyway, I will update if I get the amex credits. I saw Travel Pro offers a 100 day return policy so if the credits don't hit and/or the bags don't seem impressive I can always return them.
Edit: Doesn't appear I got the amex credit, normally you quickly get an email from Amex confirming you're getting credit. I may shoot Amex customer support a message as it was technically purchased on "Travelpro.com" but even if they don't give me credit I may keep the bags if they seem good.

I'm personally a big fan of Max Lite 5 series. We pack a lot of stuff, and difference in suitcase weight helps a lot, especially if you are travelling to Europe with one of the airlines that weights carry-ons. E.g. just flew Turkish Airlines which allows only 8kg carry-ons, so a weight difference of a bit more than 1kg between my Samsonite carry-ons and Turkish Airlines was huge (packed expensive camera equipment and essentially was able to take an extra lens I wouldn't have been able to take with me otherwise). Had my carry-ons weighted both in the US and in Amsterdam on the way back.
After a couple of years of travel they are holding up reasonable well.
BTW, Iceland Air in the US (Seattle) checked my carry-on size, so definitely be careful traveling with them.
