Rewards earned are issued around the 10-15th of the following month and are valid to the end of the next calendar month. So a recycled item in April would be paid out in mid may and valid to June 30th.

May's item credit will be available in June, so you can redeem two $10 rewards certs at once for $20 in goods from 6/15 to 6/30. Rewards certs on good on most items in store except gift cards, postage stamps and prepaid phone cards. You must redeem the full amount of the certs. at once, no credit it given back. You do not earn any new rewards on the redemption value of the certificates.

Tech rewards are valid to use IN STORE ONLY, you can not redeem them online or for online pick up orders.
You will also get a same day only $10 off $30 in store coupon on your electronic recycle receipt. May want to take advantage of that on using your rewards in store.
So if I am reading this correctly, I can bring in ONE item (including a single old rechargeable aa battery that never seems to hold a charge any more) and get $10 in rewards and I don't have to have purchased anything (like ink recycling requires)? Usually it's $5 and starting the 16th, it's $10?

What item did you recycle for the cashier to enter 897664?
game controller. 897664 is listed as promo office machi. I think I might go back to recycle a USB cable (tech) to be sure I'm getting $10 reward.

The first Staples I went to in a neighboring town entered incorrectly 24535464 (Phone and Tablet Case) for an old cellphone I recycled. 24535464 is in the same category as Writing Tools (24535465 or 24535466). It should have been 690307 (Other Tech) or some specific code for cellphone. I have been getting 690307 for old cellphones I recycled in the last few months. 690307 is a valid code for the TECH category to get your rewards.

Yesterday I went to the Staples store in my town to recycle another old cellphone. A newbie cashier made the same error by entering 24535464. I caught the error on the customer screen before he completed the transaction. I showed him the previous day's receipt and the incorrectly entered code. I then told him to just press "Other Tech" on his screen which resulted in the right tech code 690307.

The cashiers can easily make the mistake because they assume 24535464 is for phone due to the description "Phone and Tablet Case" on their screen. It is actually for phone case, not for phone.

Other Tech is on the same first screen. So it is easier just to ask them to press "Other Tech".

I am pretty sure if you recycle a USB cable, you will get 690307 (Other Tech).

** I recycled old printers twice before. I got 690804 (Printer Recycling) both times. 690804 is a valid tech recycling code.

Rewards are almost always issued the 2nd Thursday of the following month and almost always expire the last day of the month after they are issued.

So your rewards for recycling will almost certainly be issued the 2nd Thursday of May, and will expire the last day of June.

This is of course assuming that there is not a problem with reward issuance which has happened in the past. A few months ago the tech recycling rewards were delayed one month for many.

Noob Q:
I recycled my laptop battery yesterday with the code - Battery recycling 24535465. Will I get $5 or $10?

Next, can I do a pen as well? Asking because it has the same code, 24535465 writing recycling.

Glad to hear they're doing it again! I was planning to drop ink + tech today, happy that I didn't do it.

Having said that, I very rarely had problems with ink rewards not posting properly but tech recycling rewards do not post at least every other time. I usually drop ink and tech on the same receipt so it's not that something was mistyped but I also had one time with separate receipts and still had a problem. I used to chat with Staples to get this fixed. One time I just didn't have the time to deal with it and the situation auto-fixed next month. Looking forward to see what I get next Thursday.

Are you guys having similar problems with tech recycling?
do separate transaction for all recycles & u wont have this problem

Can I recycle used generic ink I bought on ebay? Can I recycle cheapo calculators from job fairs?

Field report…
I recycled 20 ink cartridges, a ball point pen, and a phone charger.
The clerk was hesitant to taking my pen, but the manager showed him how to do it.
Ink 725137
Phone charger 690307 other technology
Pen 24535465 writing recycling
So, there are different sku's for recycling.
They accepted an average everyday ink pen for tech recycling?

Why are people trading in more than one item? It says once per month. Also it says $5 for ink trade in now, so does that mean the ink gets $5 versus 2 or if you trade in 20 + 1 additional ink cartridge separately you get $40 + $5?

The $5 cartridge has a separate SKU, and it's in the same recycling bucket as the pens and batteries.
