Huh. I'd never heard of screenx before, but apparently they project onto the side walls of the theater as well as the front. Unfortunately, there are no showings near me, but it's an interesting idea.

Yeah, I believe that Regal recently filed for bankruptcy, so they are doing anything not to close. My two closest Regal theaters are only playing four different movies now, when normally they would have between 6 to 10 different films, and each theater would show different things. We never even got big films like Scream 6 and M3GAN. I had to go to a rival theater brand to see those.

Stoopid moves by the theaters...they got greedy and minimized the experience.
in home with a 120-150 inch screen in my theater room with an excellent sound system...
and non sticky seats. no one on cell phone or chewing/speaking loudly during the film.

My experience FWIW: Wife and I (aviation buffs) saw Maverick in ScreenX and REALLY enjoyed it. Most of the action/flying or landscape scenes have extra footage that expands the movie onto the side walls. Granted, it was only for maybe 1/4 of the movie...and the edges didn't totally line up in our theater, but the effect was still similar to an IMAX (but just horizontally). It's quite fun! Personally, I haven't seen the other 3 movies at all...but would guess Maverick benefits the most from the extra footage & screens. I found a trailer on YouTube (I doubt the execution will be as flawless as in the trailer) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWLLpHiR1Hc or search "Top Gun: Maverick Screen X Trailer". Much like my trip to Disney with my mother-in-law...go in with low expectations and you'll likely have fun (or don't)!
