If you are thinking about getting this and then cancel the line and unlock the phone read on about what we learnt from the FP deal on AT&T z fold 3 deal https://slickdeals.net/f/16532599-256gb-samsung-galaxy-z-fold3-5g-2-in-1-smartphone-various-carriers-from-300-activation-required-free-shipping?page=110.

1. ATT changed their unlock policy on 3/18 (middle of the z fold 3 deal perhaps due to SD effect) to require 60 days of service before they can unlock a fully paid device. Previously, it used to be right away if you have paid in full.
2. There two timeline for the cancellation. If you cancel a line before 3 days it was active then the activation fee is waived. If you cancel it within 14 days from activation under buyers remorse then no bill is charged but activation fees need to be paid. The line activates on right when you place the order not the day you receive the phone on hand so you might have to pay the activation fee to $30.
3. You can use a tello number and port to ATT but you would have to make sure porting is successful by going to https://www.att.com/portstatus/. Many from z fold 3 got stuck in porting limbo and got the ATT account cancelled.
4. As with many deals here, a SIM swap method is found which can be used to unlock the device. This was working recently but not sure if ATT would fix it by the time you try it. The steps are as follows.
a. Pay in full for the phone.
b. When you receive the phone activate it on ATT with the SIM provided. Make sure it shows up on myATT app/in the web so ATT knows and registers the IMEI in the network. Then put the SIM in another unlocked phone, reboot, make some calls and make sure this unlocked phone is now showing under the line in app/web portal.
c. Now go to ATT unlock portal https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/ and then choose not an ATT customer and use the IMEI of Pixel 6 pro and submit an unlock request.
d.Confirm the unlock request email and receive the unlock code.
e. Only cancel the line after you have unlocked the phone.

Many of us have got it to work and have an unlocked z fold 3 now. Hope this helps! Please report back so we know if this still works.
I'll never understand how people like you have the time and energy to help others with comments like this. Thank you so much!
ATT updated policy has a new line/add a line locked for 60 days of service before you can cancel the line and unlocking. On the other hand, by upgrading a line (current customer no EIP) I was able to unlock 2 days later after purchase of the zfold3 replacing the sim method.

This 2nd time around I went with adding a line for the Pixel 6 Pro purchase due to the price differences. I can't unlock and cancel and I've also tried the replace sim method; the /deviceunlock page states I have not fulfilled my 60 days.

So out of pocket:
$153 w/tax
$30 activation
$60 2months service ($30 per month)
$243 total paid vs $239+tax+activation on Upgrade Line

it's still a decent deal for last years flagship. i upgrade to android 13 and battery life is amazingly on par with my wife's 14promax. the zfold3 is being treated like a tablet on the go and will be using the pixel as a daily. these att deals are outstanding lol.

A post on another site said it requires one month of service before you can cancel, not sure if AT&T's unlocking policy though.

My out of pocket would be 303 if I have to keep it active for 2 months. don't think that's a great deal.

I was hoping the unlock trick would work. Has anyone else been able to confirm if they were able to unlock the phone? My phone would be available for pick up on the 21st.

No port required? I don't see it mentioned anywhere.

I just had too much fun with ZFold 3.. but really, why not do again.

Yes. Point them to the buyers remorse policy. If they don't budge you can file a FCC complaint

Which unfortunately won't be of much help as the FCC only acts against a company after hundreds or thousands of complaints have accumulated and that action is usually some fine that doesn't come back to the individuals.

It's not a general complaint against the company rather a specific case of policy violation. In the previous z fold 3 deal that's how many got unlock codes, charges waived etc. as representatives from the office of the president reached out to them so I don't think it's a wasted effort.

I was supposed to get some discount from xfinity for 2 yrs but it was stopped after 2 months only. I reached out to CS multiple times via call and on reddit but I was always transferred to some other department. Finally I complained at FCC and I got follow up emails and issue was resolved within a week. I even got credit for previous invoices which I paid at full price where discount failed to apply
