There have been several mentions of customers receiving empty boxes, and having to fight their way to get a refund.

I, too, had recent unpleasant experience with Amazon. Amazon is no longer the premier customer-centric company that it used to be. These days, I rather go with Walmart, Target or Best Buy for branded electronics if they have similar prices. Just my 2 cents.

The only real difference between S7 and S8 is the crash detection and the temperature monitor, outside of that they are identical. Apple care is nice though.

so people who bought items shipped and sold by amazon had empty boxes ?
empty outer box or inner box itself was empty without the product?

In many other Apple Watch threads there are many who say they get the box from Amazon but inside there's no watch. And then they have issues getting a refund. It's several people. I'd stay away from Amazon for Apple Watch purchases personally

Probably some people bought it, took the watch out, reseal the box and returned it to amazon. And amazon won't open the box to check as that will make it and open box item.

I think something similar happened to best buy before, people putting putting rocks in iPad boxes, resealed it and returned it.

I think if the company or police really wanted to track it down, it's not difficult as every device has a unique imei number and you can track it once it goes online.

But it's sucks that Amazon won't take care of it.
