I don't want a better warranty, I want a tool that I can count on to work when I need it.

It's a minor pain to have to get out from under a car to grab another light if the one I'm working with fails. It's a huge pain if it happens when I'm half way through a washing machine repair at a rental and have to drive home to grab another light.
A review state that this comes with a replaceable battery; much better for longevity.

My understanding was that this new model doesn't come with a replaceable battery, that's is what stoped me from getting it, but the manual states that in fact it is replaceable. Charging isn't ideal, I have the one that is not foldable, and replace the batteries when is low and I can keep using it, it has an 18650, I have 10 that I recycled from a 18v drill battery, they can also be found in laptop batteries

What is the recommended more expensive quality light similar to this one for automotive work?
Get the icon version. More lumens, more hours, slimmer than the braun and solid overall. I use it at work.

I have the older version with mini USB charging. I bought two.

These lights are great and durable in my uses wrenching on cars.

The new swivel and USB C are upgrades from the be previous version. If everything else is the same, this should be a good value torch of anyone is looking for one

I used one of 1st gen of these daily for years as a machine mechanic, and literally 30 other people at work got them after I got mine. I haven't heard a single complaint. Hopefully this newest version is just as reliable.

For those talking about the battery (in the old model, idk about new one) it uses a standard 18650 I believe, which you can buy for $8 on Amazon.

For those worried about the charging port or battery life, spend $30 and get a 18650 charger with multiple batteries...

For those worried about durability, I magnetted mine too the roof of the car and forgot it. Went to get Chinese later during a heavy rain storm, heard something fall off my car at 40 mph. Didn't realize what it was till later that night. The next day driving home from work I saw it on the road next to the curb. It stayed in the heavy rain on the side of the road over night and still works. Does have flat spots where it skidded on the pavement though.

It's good price. I paid 17.99 during 2019 BF so not sure we ever see that prices. It has USB C versus the other 390lm that has micro USB. And yes it does have HDMI for the people that are gonna ask.
what you do with hdmi on this

Totally agree. If you're doing professional work where time is literal money, you need to buy professional tools (think Matco, SnapOn etc). You have no business buying $19.99 DIY-er level tools from HF when you're "on the clock".

HF is amazing in that it gives the average joe such cheap options for "around-the-house"/infrequent use. The problem becomes when people think a $19 light will be as reliable a pro-level SnapOn $182 flex light

You can , it needs soldering. Somebody posted a YouTube or reddit post on it.
