How exactly? The 3D chips are faster for gaming, the non-3D chips are faster for everything else. Different markets.

I was planning on building a 7800x3D setup but I'd still have to buy ram. So deals like this tempt me...

The problem is that all I really want is the 7800X3D.

AMD really screwed themselves with releasing X3D CPUs separately.

How long will microcenter do a price adjustment for? I already bought and build the 7900x combo a month ago, it's 50 cheaper now.

Worth is subjective. But the consensus from most people and reviewers would be no if youre gaming or just doing moderate work. Zen 4 (Ryzen 7000) CPUs require a new AM5 motherboard, which are considerably more expensive (most $200+ for base models), these CPUs are not backwards compatible with AM4 (which you have). They also require DDR5 (though thats included in this).

Unless you have a 4090 or something, and want the best performance, just stay with your 5600x for a few more years.

price of DDR5 is coming down. Also now more choices for the AM5 motherboard.
It might worth to upgrade. Once you get AM5 MD, you can upgrade in the future again with better CPU as well.

Tough call but if you feel, your PC is getting slow, then go for it!

I have upgraded from 5800X, and I am very satisfy with my upgrade.

For most home users, the 3D chips are distinctly preferable--to the extent that many people who would consider upgrading waited for the 3D chips release.

But now there are cheaper 7000 chips that people don't really want, so they either feel like they're missing out if they get non-3D or they feel like they're overpaying if they go 3D. It's set up to make the consumer not that happy, when they're actually buying good products. It's just a poorly planned release, IMO.
