The only thing that's not included in these Viking fares is the gratuities. Everything else, port taxes, fees, whatever, are already included in the price. Transfer to and from Airport and the ship is also included in the Airfare unless you decide to deviate and arrive earlier/depart later.

I went to the Grand European Tour for 3k last year, and it was a lovely experience. Highly recommended if you've never traveled with Viking before.

EDIT: And the cost to deviate is $100 if it's done as soon as you book.

I have never used Viking, but did a 17 city river cruise in 2020. We traveled from Budapest to The Netherlands and it was amazing on Emerald Cruises. All inclusive, meals (all you can eat breakfast, tea time, lunch, dinner, desert, and wine - or order a selection from the menu, still included), excursions, tips, airport transfers, etc. I don't know if other alcohol was included because I don't drink, but my friends had wine so I know it was included. The only thing I paid for was souvenirs. There were a few extra excursions on the same day as included excursions that people could choose from (20 mile bike ride, trip to castle, etc.). Those few were an additional cost. I didn't do any of those. They also managed our flight itinerary for us at a discounted rate. The cruise concierge service was impeccable.

It was the most amazing trip. I would do it again!

Isn't that common amongst any cruise lines?

What's the rub with these cruises? Hidden fees? Do you have to pay for every little extra detail like a normal cruise ship?

Anyone with recent experience with Viking who can share what additional costs are added to this price?

I've never been but our retired neighbors take Viking Cruises all over the world and they have nothing but good things to say about it.

The price that includes air fare is all inclusive. There are some upgraded activities that add a cost, but not required and some have been worth the extra money. The big bonus, I think, of Viking is they allow you to bring your own alcohol on board. Sure you can pay to have unlimited booze [wine is included with dinner], but you can buy your own anything while off the boat and bring it on board and drink it openly, probably for less than their unlimited booze. Plus it let's you pick and taste the local stuff.

I took the Amsterdam to Basel cruise last October. This is a premium experience. Everything is included except tips. You are likely to be so impressed you will leave additional tips to your favorite staff members, I did. Excursions are included every full day of the cruise. Optional excursions at additional cost. Drinking packages are available. The ship was operated so smoothly and on time. Didn't have any trouble with any cruisers who were perpetually late (every tour has some). Mostly older retirees take these cruises.

One thing to note. If you are vegetarian or vegan, you need to be more assertive about having them prepare custom meals for you (within reason). Usually they will have one vegetarian friendly appetizer or entree with every meal.

At these prices, this is a good deal. Especially since airfare is included.

If your passport is not up to date, better get that done ASAP. You may need expedited service. There is a backlog.

Also, it's important to note, that "15 days" is actually "14 Nights". Yes, this is one of the thing I hate about how Viking advertises their cruises.
I love everything else about them, but this is just annoying.

I agree that this is a bit deceptive but it is common among all tours that I've seen. Your return flight could be leaving at 2 in the morning and they would still count that day.

Many luxury lines are doing either "nights" or "days on board". Same goes with booking services.

To be honest, many luxury cruise lines have stopped doing this. I know that Silversea, Regent Seven Seas, Azamara, and Oceania are all listing their cruises in nights.

But then again, you have cruise lines like Grand Circle Cruise Line that goes as far as adding the first travel day on the plane as a "day" in the itinerary, so they'd call a 14-night a "16 days" cruise.

All inclusive. Food is included. I still miss the daily french toast. Mmmm.

Parents did this a couple years ago. Food, wine cheese and all the goods are prepared and selected for you. Of course you can order what you want but they do try to incorporate the meals and foods based on the stops and the region you are in. They did a 21 day on the Rhine. They loved it. (Was a dream trip and saved for years, they couldn't hav head a better experience)
