Absolutely.
I have one too and as you said, the conversion pieces are way overpriced for What they are.
Let alone the horrible paint they use for the wood, I can literally scratch off the paint with my nail.
And did I mention the terrible screws and nuts included? You'll need to replace them after the second time you take the bed down.
