Not for a bleeding edge drive like this. If you're referring to the TeamGroup deal... not the best brand... and I think the read and write speeds are dang slow in comparison - sub-2000MBps I think
This drive is one of the fastest Gen4s on the market. Tom's Hardware tests indicate it runs faster than the WD SN850X and goes toe-to-toe with the Samsung 990 Pro.

Is this an SK Hynix company? Footer on the web sites says so, but why would they have competing subsidiaries selling the same stuff?

Its SK Hynix + Intel's storage division which they sold to SK Hynix.

Oof.. just picked up a 980 pro 2tb for $115. Help me decide if i should just get this instead!
If you're using it for gaming (PC/PS5), then 980 pro will do everything that you need it to do. If it's going into a laptop, maybe the lower idle power consumption of this drive compared to the 980 pro is worth the money, to give you another few minutes of battery life.

This or the Kingston Renegade?
I don't think you can go wrong either way. I ended up with the FURY Renegade a week ago. I also got their Payboo card so it's instant tax rebate.

Stuff is crazy how cheap it's getting. I met with a guy at Silicon Graphics when they made the Terminator movie and they had the first one gigabyte hard drive. It was $1000.00!!!

I just paid $99 for a Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2TB refurbished (basically new).

Any reason to get this instead for gaming and andio video production? Or would the real world difference be insignificant? How about longevity? I know the Samsung is one of the best on the market in terms of longevity.

my best guess would be to have it focus on consumer market

tbh the only way to get sk hynix drives (that i know of) is from amazon... at least in US

i bought one of the plus variants for my ps5 for expanded storage

there was some amazon lightning deal i think a couple weeks ago for it... apparently according to samsung's Q1 reporting they are down 90 percent in sales on their drives division so they are probably having to dump + sell as much stock to lower inventories

I've been waiting on a sn850x from western digital but it seems it just won't drop to the $115-$130 range anytime soon.

I hear this is a good drive.

I want the 2tb drive to be my main PC drive that has windows installed.

Would this be a good as my main drive for the next 5 or 6 years?

Or should I just continue to stick it out for a WD sn850x?

Paid $369 for my 40MB hard drive in January 1988. Over $500 for an 80MB SCSI drive.
