This one has a sub. The Jamo one doesn't. The left and right speakers on this one have upwards firing speakers. The Jamo doesn't.
$299 speakers need a $1500 9-channel receiver to run them.
You don't need a 9.1 receiver. Just don't wire up the rear Atmos speakers. You wont be missing out on much. Good deal if you don't care about aesthetics. These arent bad speakers they just look kinda bad but you'd be hard pressed putting together a set of this quality for anywhere near this price. These aren't for the living room but for a basement or man cave they are fantastic at this price.

Do we need an AV to run these speakers or can I directly use them by connecting it to my Hisense laser cinema?

If you need a receiver, might as well buy atmos sound bar setup that has it built-in. Doesn't make sense to spend additional $1k+ on an atmos receiver for this inexpensive system.

These are passive speakers, you need a receiver.

Well truth be told, you don't really get true "Atmos" immersion with a soundbar.
It's more a marketing selling point for them.

IMO if you're gonna bother to run wires and do all the setup.
I would suggest investing in a good 5.1 setup.
That would yield the better SQ over a soundbar or these and probably less expensive too.

A speaker setup is in the format x.y.z
x=number of speakers/surround channels
y=number of subwoofers
z=number of atmos (upfire) speakers
Add x+z=number of dedicated channels you need to have in your receiver. Example this 5.1.4 speaker setup therefore needs a 9 channel receiver to connect everything.

a 9.2 receiver has 9 dedicated channels for speakers and the .2 means you can connect up to 2 subwoofers

Yes you can use that receiver with this speaker package. To take full advantage of it you need a 9 channel Atmos capable receiver.
Since this is only a 7 channel Atmos capable receiver, you will only be able to get 5.1.2 setup.
Whether that gives you a complete theater experience is a whole other subjective rabbit hole topic!

For those that have this set: Does the sub auto power down if there is no sound input for a while?
There is an option to have it always powered on or auto shut off after 15 min of no input.

I don't have any freaking clue about speakers, but just curious. Is 7.2 channel same as 9 channel referenced here?
