Will post again. If you live in the Chicago/Milwaukee area then you can buy a lightly used Steelcase Gesture for $300 from a reputable resale shop. The one I bought still had tags attached.

I have another Gesture I purchased through Crandall and only have great things to say about both Crandall and the Gesture. Just want to let the SD community know that there is currently a better option available.
If you're going to buy one of these chairs first check out the local market on Craigslist, OfferUp and Facebook Marketplace. You can find them cheaper. I picked up a Leap V2 for $120 and an Aeron for $350. Both are like new.
Pls put prices in the title and the description post.

Just commenting to say the leap v2 chair is godly. Got it 3 years ago after a long string of mediocre chairs and it's totally life changing. If I worked in an office, I'd pay $500 out of my own pocket if necessary to have one of these chairs over sit it any standard chair. Only caveat is I don't have any comparison with other high end chairs, so can't say comparability wise. Only that leap v2 is perfect

I have the leap V2 and Aeron remaster. I'd prefer the Leap more but it's so damn hot to sit for long period of time. I switch back and forth between the two. The last 2 years, I bought those cheap knock off from Amazon for around $250 and my back hurt from them. Since I got these two chairs the last 2 months, and I no longer experience lower back pain.

Are these good brands? They all seem low back not high back, are there high back versions?

Yes Herman Miller and Steelcase are the golden standard for commercial office chairs. I bought my Aeron used and recently looked into replacing one of the pad that has worn out a bit. My chair was built in the beginning of 2000. My office chair looks brand new and is old enough to drink.

I have a Leap V2 at home and absolutely love it. Got it new in 2020. Best purchase I ever made.

Also, if anyone has tried an Aeron and also hates that hard plastic bar under your legs, check out the Mirra 2. I use that one at work and it's fantastic as well. Crandall doesn't have any in stock atm, unfortunately.

Smilie Wow, that's impressive. We also got some office chairs about 10 years ago, looks great, except the armrest are ripping because they have been rubbing against the cubicles due to height difference. Otherwise proper office chairs are the best.

Is there specific models you can recommend besides Aeron? I can't really ever get comfortable in mesh chairs and prefer faux letter/polyseter or fabric.

Can someone explain to me why I shouldn't just buy the Leap v2 off eBay from Madison Seating? The price difference is like $300. They have free returns, and if it sucks or they won't let me return, I can ask ebay to step in.

Why pay almost twice as much for the slightly better item with a 12 year warranty?

I bought both chairs from them. They look like new. The Leap V2 was creaking a bit so I sprayed with some WD. You can return it for free if you don't like it. Not sure why people want to pay $500 here , where Madison has them for $350 ish

The padding on the seats are pretty thin if you've ever tried one. That's the reason I'm considering crandall. I just need to find a good headrest for it.

Makes sense. The Crandall one really does seem like it's better than getting a new chair from Steelcase. I also get the feeling of security with having a 12 year warranty.

Speaking of that, anyone have good/bad experiences with the Crandall warranty?

I bought a steel case V2 from Crandall in 2021 and have loved my experience from day 1.
The chair is great.
I called them and spoke to one of the owners straight away which was shocking.
At the time, they offered extra thick seat cushion on the V2. Now it's included on every V2 no additional cost I believe.
I would recommend it.

They talked me out the herman miller as the net-style seat isn't for everyone and I'm glad I went with the V2.
When I assembled the chair, it had a grinding sound when leaning back. I called Crandall, again, straight to the owner of the company, and I sent them a video of the issue. They immediately walked me through a simple grease solution.
My chair remains in top condition and I haven't even tried to take care of it.

Would definitely buy again and definitely buy from Crandall.
I love good companies.

Realistically how long do these chairs last? I have an offer locally to buy one that's 7 years old but looks "like new" for $250. Am I going to be replacing the seat pad, etc. soon?

Very torn between doing that and going the Crandall route. Such a big price difference though!
