In case anyone is wondering, if you already have game pass ultimate and you add this to your subscription, I believe it adds 50 days to ultimate .

The trial month of gpu that you need to convert the gold to ultimate is 14.99 through microsoft/xbox. You do have to pay that first month or use another code that is cheaper. It will also sign you up for auto renew to continue past Dec 2023. You can then go and turn that auto renew off.

As far as getting the deal cheaper. I bought a two month key on ebay for 7.49 plus tax from obraundawg2. He put on the item that it had to be for someone that has never had ultimate on the account before but it would convert gold to ultimate. Other ebay codes didn't say that so I went with him. Worked fine. Still had to sign up for auto renewal and turn off after.

Gotcha, thanks! So assuming I purchase the first month of GPU for $14.99 through Microsoft, it will automatically convert me to GPU through December 2023, but I will only have to pay the initial month's fee of $14.99 and not $14.99 every month from now until December? Thanks again!

Yes, but remember to turn off the auto renewal after it goes through. But it should also give you another month to Jan 2024 as well.
