Seems like perfect timing since I just bought two refurbished units, but makes me wonder if I should wait until next year or later in the year before I start worrying about replacements...

Replacement options on Amazon look identical and they seem like they're made at the same factory. The HEPA ones are available as low as $7-$8 each. I've purchased from two different sellers, and both sets have been virtually identical to the original Winix ones that came with the unit, from the number of folds to the edge design.

Can you provide a link. I've always been weary of those amazon replacements. I never know if they are really filtering or just knock offs.
