From generatorbible. Paralleling these would get you decent capacity for $1000 (& generator redundancy in case one fails), but running both would increase the noise level & you have to do double the maintenance work. The parallel kit is $60 on amazon & creates a single 50A plug.

STRENGTHS:
In the expected price range
CO Sentry technology
RV Ready
Parallel capable
Inverter
Lightweight (46 lbs)
Fuel efficient

AVERAGE SPECS:
Acceptable noise (59 dBA)

WEAKNESSES:
No data center
No electric start
Relatively low run time

the 50a 240v parallel kit is a BIG DEAL. can set up a home backup system to feed off the 240v in the case of major emergencies.

I'm not sure that I'm following. Two of these 120V generators can be run in parallel to generate 240V? If so that is very interesting. Please share the link to the parallel kit that enables that.

Yep. That is a parallel kit but it puts out 120v not 240v unless I read it wrong.

I bought this generator for the same price from Home Depot a few weeks ago.

Pros - it puts out the wattage and amps advertised. Is fairly quiet, and easy to start

Cons - 1 gallon gas tank gets you 5 hours at eco throttle mode, and 2-1/2 hours at full load. It doesn't idle down much at all on eco mode. If sitting on a smooth surface, it will walk around on you. I had to move several feet in just a short time. It has a 149cc engine instead of a 80cc most generators of this physical size have.

good quality build, if you need the power it puts out and are willing to put up with the very short run time, then it's a great buy!

I returned mine and bought a 2200 watt version of another brand

That's how I am reading the details as well.

The 80cc is generally seen in 2500w or less.

That is correct. The bigger engine in this model (149cc) gives it ample power to generate the higher wattage / amps, but at the cost of significantly shorter run time.

It's a great generator, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to someone! Also has a 3 year warranty.

it's a 50amp parallel kit.
It has two 120v legs=240v. literally says so right on the top of it, 125v-240v 50a.
Each generator provides one leg of 120v.

it says in the description "120V AC Voltage
60Hz Frequency
50 AMP AC Current
120V 50A NEMA 14-50R
3 FT Cable Length "

On the picture it says 125/250 ... Where does it says "Each generator provides one leg of 120v" or is that something you are assuming? The picture could mean it takes in 125 or 250 depending where you live?

That's not how parallel kits work for generators. This will output 120Vac, 50A (Really less in this case, since that's more than these generators can even output together)

The Lowe's [lowes.com] product page description is correct.

To output 240v, you would look to be connecting the black and red leads together across the generators, and an inverter needs to be able to handle the neutral appropriately. Something more like this [amazon.com], which uses a 240v plug already installed on either generator, but simply allows the dc bus to be used from both generators together. The neutral not always used, but the important part is that the inverter can create each leg on it's own. You don't let 2 separate inverters try and attempt to create a single split phase.

Inverter generators tie their DC buses together, the inverter handles the converting to 120 or 240v, and as far as I'm aware, there's no inverter sold as a parallel kit that will convert to 240v on it's own...it's typically a larger inverter required.

Edit: I stand corrected; the *only* kit currently on the market that supports 240v AC parallel that has a plug on the parallel kit itself is a Duromax kit [duromaxpower.com].

Even though I think this guy tries to sell stuff that's way more than 99% of people need, this guy on youtube [youtu.be] actually goes through a bunch of kits next to each other, which is kinda nice to see all in one video.

Um, NO, so I'm not a pro nor do I have this so all I have to work with is the definition. It says run in PARALLEL which means side by side NOT in series. Side by side or parallel will increase capacity or amperage not voltage so voltage should remain 120v but it will now increase in capacity to 100A. This is just my best guess based on definition but confidence in being correct is very high.

update: If what your looking for is to connect two generators to double the voltage, if such a kit exists, it would be called a series kit. But I don't recall ever seeing something like that, but who knows for sure.

I stand corrected. I've never seen 120v 50a.I suspect the parallel could work with a 50a camper but i'm pretty sure those are looking for 240v to maximize use of the amperage?

That parallel kit is 240v.

You can even tell by the 4 prong female plug.
