Is there a way to buy (upgrade) the movies from iTunes when you already own the lower resolution, in this case HDX? I own District 9 and Devil's Backbone in HDX and I know both are available in UHD since I see the $14.99 price listed in Vudu to get to UHD. I don't see UHD in iTunes, however. I have an iTunes, Vudu and MA accounts.
You should be able to click/tap to gift the item, then send it to your own email address, then redeem in iTunes, where it'll automatically redeem in the highest available quality, UHD if available, and port to Movies Anywhere if applicable.

Thanks. I'm quite sure I've done that successfully in the past, but for some reason now, there doesn't seem to be any gifting option only a play button since I own them in HDX. At least in Vudu and Prime. they recognize that you own a particular movie in a lower resolution and gives the option to upgrade. I don't know why that should be so difficult or hard for them to accomplish especially when it puts money in their pocket.

I'm a total novice at this sort of purchase, and need some help.

How do you buy? I see no purchase button after I click on the movie and go to the page for it.
If I manage to buy it, what do I get? Do I get a disc? Do I download it? Do I stream it?

I see "View in iTunes" and I clicked on it thinking maybe that would enable me to buy, but nothing happens.

Thanks for the help.

You might want to browse the desktop app if you have it, there are other stuff for sale not listed here, and they have a $5, $7, and $10 sections to show you everything thats on sale. You cant filter by resolution, but just check the movie and it well tell you. I saw Brotherhood of the Wolf in 4K for $5 and some others.

Gift option should be available for all individual titles that are owned or not. Gift option is not available for movie bundles though. Not sure if that helps at all. If an individual title is missing that option you can reach out to apple support.

Thanks! Went with Jimmy Neutron on Amazon, since they matched and I had credits to burn.

No, but those are not 4K. I already have a DVD rip of They Live but it looks like it was filmed with a potato. Which is probably was but I'm hoping this will be a better and newer transfer at least.
Your filmed with a potato comment gave me a good chuckle

Can't claim to have originated it; it's in common use on Reddit and I've seen "potato quality" many other places as well.
