if you dont already own this on PC you are missing a beautiful last gen
next gen looking and feeling good time
every time you enter your mech is awesome and the level designs and the multiplayer are really good
Sadly the multiplayer seems to be relatively dead. Frontier Defense (the PVE mode) was awesome to play back when it first released
(Backstory: TF2 was rendered unplayable due to an attack on the default Titanfall authentication servers which prevented anyone from joining or staying in a MP game; A community effort built 'Northstar' - a small add on that bypasses the affected parts, and allows you to connect/play with no issues. I play it daily using this method)
Link [gitbook.io] to the Northstar client install instructions and releases.
Unrelated to the above, here's a list of the MP server activity [northstar.tf]. It's still fairly popular and easy ti find a MP game.
Anyone who purchases and wishes to play the Multiplayer components of TItanfall2, it is a MUST to install the Northstar Client, linked above.
Even though I play Apex religiously now, I still wished they continued TF instead. Remember all the times playing, how intense it can get, the titan mechanics, heart rate all high while mashing the eject button, to either escape with a sigh of relief, or to accidently nuke myself because there was a damn ceiling above me
Warning: If you are looking to play multiplayer and you are using Intel 10th gen or newer, you will fail to establish a connection to the server unless you do this workaround:
Windows:
1. Right click on "This Computer" then > "Properties".
2. Once you are there find the setting "Advanced System Options"
NOTE: If the window is opened through the traditional control panel then it's gonna be on the left hand corner of the window, if you are accessing this through the newer settings application found on Windows 10 and higher, then it's gonna be on the right hand corner.
3. Go on the "Advanced" tab and find "Environment Variables...".
4.Once you are there, we are greeted with two fields, the upper one is for your user account, the second one is global for your entire OS. We need to edit the one affecting the entire OS. You have to click on "Create" and add the following entries:
Variable Name: OPENSSL_ia32cap
Variable Value: ~0x20000000
5. You are now ready to play Titanfall 2. Just make sure to restart the game if it was still running in the process. I personally restarted my computer as well just in case.
Linux:
Tip: Keep in mind that you have to run the game in "Proton Experimental". Otherwise the EA launcher will keep crashing on startup.
1. Open Steam, find Titanfall 2 in your library, right click on it and go to "Properties"
2. Head to the "General" tab and find the section with "Launch Options" which should be located at the bottom
3. Paste this on the launch options field:
OPENSSL_ia32cap=~0x20000000 %command%
NOTE: Steam specific commands go after the "%command" separator, before it, specific to Linux commands only work. If you are looking to enter other Linux specific commands such as "mangohud", just separate them with an interval (spacebar).
4. You are now ready to play Titanfall 2. Just restart the game if an instance of it is already running.
//mandatory neofetch
//windows edition
Alternatives:
If you are still having connection issues with the official servers, I recommend giving Northstar a go. Unlike the vanilla servers, this worked out of the box. Though keep in mind, Northstar disconnected me pretty frequently before doing the variable workaround. I tried recreating the issue, but I have been unable to so far, so even if you choose to play on Northstar, please do the workarounds. I have the download page linked down below and also a guide on how to get it to work on Linux.

Dude so many people lately have not picked up on this cardinal rule of the internet. Just some asterisks with spoiler alert and space from the top. Internet courtesy has gone to shit lately. I got spoiled on a online serialized book series I was reading because some idiot went all the way back to one of the earlier chapters on an earlier book and spoiled a major plot point. Christ!
it does
I always look for this in threads like this. I just played it for about two hours now. Works great on my Steam Deck
