Kapalua is one of the nicest places in the world, and perhaps in the universe. Ironwoods Beach (aka Shitties - great for walks and dogs) is on the coastal trail. You can walk down to Kapalua (snorkeling, swimming, super calm) and Napili (family, body boarding and body surfing) beaches or up to Slaughterhouse (more surfing, sun, family). It's 4 distinct kinds of beaches in a row.

Then there are the trails to the duck pond.

Then there's the fancy restaurants.

Then there's the sunrises and sunsets.

Also golf, tennis, and pickleball.

Costco travel is hard to beat, especially if you deplore ju.ping through a lot of hoops. Just sayin'.

Lotta fees stacked on top for only a 3 night stay. A week would be better.

And Maui is the land of the $30.00 food truck lunch! Not a good deal at all.

All online travel agencies (OTA) are categorically cancerous and a scam, but Travelzoo is incredibly based. The places they pick are always nice or high end, it actually very easy to forgive the OTA experience given what they offer for the price

So that $795 price quickly becomes $1143. And that's before adding in resort fees and taxes. So probably closer to $1500 out the door (or about double the advertised price).

I agree this seems more like a shill ad than an actual 'deal'.

Also, while I haven't been to Maui in 12 years or so, we stayed at a resort and I don't remember paying close to $300 for a 'cleaning fee'. Is this some AirBNB type 'deal'?

Having been to Maui 6 times over last 12 years, this is a decent deal for Kapalua even with all the extra charges. Ive seen rates go from 175 via hotwire to 1000$ at hyatt regency maui in just 10 years. Last december when we wanted to go during xmas week places like the residence inn maui in wailea were going for 1100-1500/nt. We do most of our traveling with points and miles so we just would not go at those rates. 400/nt still stings but off season that is probably not bad. As to 30$ food truck lunchea, thats not my experience overall. Food definitely has gone up like everywhere else but u can get a meal for leas than 30$pp at many places. Nothing fancy of course. But if you're not into fine dining there are lots of places for fish tacos, fish plates, fish burgers etc at okay prices. like coconuts fish cafe, cafe olei, thai me up food truck, paia fish market, fish market maui. and best poke for reasonable price is at foodland. if you can live with that, you'll be fine. In all my trips to Maui i haven't been able to stay in Kapalua bc either points availability wasnt there or it was too pricy. but definitely one of my fav parts of the island. Napili beach and others up there are amazing.

Thanks for the info. To clarify, I wasn't complaining about the price in and of itself (as I have no idea what the normal prices are), but more about how the advertised price is about half of the OTD price, which is a big pet peeve of mine. Even more so when they tack on, IMHO, BS fees like 'cleaning' that account for an almost 50% increase.

Buy Poke at Foodland...one of the better deals in Hawaii, at least last few times I was there...which was nearly a decade ago.

Load up at Costco too.

Sansei Sushi used to have a decent happy hour...though not everyone wants to eat at 5:00 PM while on holiday!
