I don't recommend people buying cologne or perfume blind for people. Unless you know they like it, go with the Sephora sampler packs. They give you like 10 samples of cologne/perfume and a voucher to redeem a full size bottle of which we you choose so people can test all the scents out multiple times and pick the one they like the most.
Can't comment on this particular scent being a good fit for the Mrs or not… but you may want to consider getting Eau de Parfume to not look cheap
Probably not a good blind buy. It's always best to either have them smell it or smell it yourself to see if it's anything they'd like.
Apparently this one smells like "church" and incense to many people. Some consider it old lady whereas the "black opium" ones are a bit more common and maybe more mass appealing?
With that said, macys may accept returns -- but even then, a lot of people may feel bad returning a gift, or it could cost you quite a bit more if she likes a different perfume and you end up paying the difference.
The only thing thing is, this fragrance is a very powerful type of fragrance with strong notes, so you really need to love the formulation/scent. People either love it or hate it, very few in the middle ground. It was extremely popular in the mid 2010's but not as much anymore. Some say its a better version of females Calvin Klein obsession.
Doubtful the masses know the difference these days.

Maybe not the masses but the Mrs will notice how quickly it fades
