can't believe there are people out here comparing the two. One if from a legendary sub producer and the other is an overpriced sub that's required to make their regular system sound decent.
i'm convinced most people that have heard sonos have not heard anything else. you can argue that their software is better all you want, but you can't argue what a speaker's primary purpose is.
A traditional speaker setup is based mainly on the speakers to produce the sound.
Soundbars are based mainly on technology manipulation to produce it.
The main reason this happens is people intermix the hassle with traditional and the convenience/aesthetics into the comparison question of what sounds better.
Some receivers have same/similar tech like DTS Virtual:X or they simulate "atmos" without the speakers(ie Audyssey DSX, Auro 3D).
When someone says they heard/have both and a soundbar sounds just as good or better, usually means they have an agenda or didn't put in the hassle to take advantage of a traditional speaker setup IMO.
I have the beam and 2 ones with a sub is there a lot of benefit to a second, ps hopefully bf won't notice second sub if you convince me lol

For the __physical size_ and the lifestyle factor of the Sonos eco system, it is one of the best compact subs I have ever heard. Performance per cubic inch destroys pretty much everything out of the water.
I still wouldn't pay $800 MSRP for one, but the $500-600 mark it starts making sense. Again, only if you need a "lifestyle" system.
Agreed. There are many small subs that sound much better than the sonos sub for the price. The only reason to buy the sonos sub is that you have no other option when using an arc or beam to get a true .1 channel.
After years of having a sub for our TV, my wife one day asks, what's this box by the wall, can we toss it??? For realz.
Or to add a sub to a pair of Ones? That was priority above my Sonos soundbars.
