We had a new HVAC installed and changed from the usual type to the attic duct filter type. The only note I have is that it's a 20x25 and MERV 11 and wondering if that is the 20x25x1 or some other type? Seems awfully cheap and it's an annual replacement instead of seasonal like my old air return ones. TIA

Check the thickness of your filter.
The last 1 means 1 inch, there are thicker filters

Check the thickness. You probably need a 4 or 5 in thick filter, which is going to run closer to $50 or more.

You too can stress and possibly burn out your furnace for only $18.97.

Please do some searching for yourself, you will find 99% of HVAC contractors recommending to use the plain fiberglass filters only for the 1" versions. Furnace filters are meant to protect your furnace, not filter your air. These high MERV 1" filters are too thin and restrict airflow too much. 2" & 4" filters can get away with it because there is so much more filter media to pass through.

If you have a 1" filter, stick to the fiberglass ones or the lowest MERV rated pleated filter you can find.

Measure the filter directly along with the replacement at the home store. Mine said 4.5 but a 4in one fits perfectly

Been using these types of filters for 15 years on my HVAC with zero problems! If you think your HVAC will last 30-40 years then thing again!

I can never really find deals on my size of 20x25x4 and 20x25x5.

Best I've found is a 4 pack ($25 each) on amazon from a generic name company: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S4HBFTN/

There's a difference between being lucky and being right. Dreamliner is the latter. Guess what that leaves you?

He's right, how many motors do HVAC guys replace anyway, almost none. They will just say the whole thing needs to be replaced, anyway.

Replacing the blower motor is a common job. It seems you don't know much about HVAC.
