newegg sucks though.
That CPU is an absolute beast. Looks like a great deal if you are in the market for a full sized ATX build. Basically getting $250 off compared to buying individual parts from other retailers.
RIP... closest store to me is 200 miles away.

Two warnings:

1. There are overheating issues right now with ASUS motherboards and AMD's 7000 series CPUs. ASUS has released a firmware update for the UEFI/BIOS, the current reports are that it is not working correctly still. Buyer beware.
2. The motherboard has two x16 PCIe slots, but the second one is only electrically wired for x4 even though the slot is x16 physically. This burned me on a recent build. (Make sure to check the motherboard's tech specs on the ASUS/MSI/Gigabyte website before buying from micro center since the micro center website has incorrect specs on expansion slots)

Took your advice. Looked at the website for ASUS and I cant find where it says it's only wired for 4x?

What kind of cooling solution should I also buy for this rig?
For the best performance for the buck, a 360mm liquid cooler like Artic's.

Wow I see it now. They hid it pretty well for the average person to find. Thank you!

I'm currently using A Noctua NH-D15 chromax.Black, Dual-Tower CPU Cooler (140mm, Black). Also be careful when choosing a computer case with the NZXT H9 Flow. Had to have a spacer 3D printed so the fan wouldn't hit the glass part of the case since the fan was sitting directly above the ram not allowing the case glass to close properly. The system is truly a beast, The only thing I ended up doing is adding another 32 GB of RAM. my recommendation do not overclock or use XMP the system is already fast enough no reason to change reliability for speed when it's already fast.

If you are okay with using your RAM at 4800mhz, then it's awesome. If you expect 6000mhz, then look elsewhere. After 6 months, expo with this set of RAM is still very unstable
Did u set voltage on it?

That's beyond my knowledge. I just enabled EXPO and that's all as I'm not an enthusiast. I don't want to make things worse by messing around with it.

There is hope with the new bios coming out soon that is supposed to help with the ram speeds.

Greetings SD. Long time lurker seldom poster here but seeking helpful advice from the community. Have a Microcenter local and was thinking of listing my XPS 9310 (11th i5, 16gb, 512gb, Xe) with WD19 Thunderbolt docking station locally on CL or something along those lines and putting the funds toward this MB/CPU/RAM combo to make an ATX build for photo editing - wouldn't know where to start with a compatible cooling setup, tower, PSU, recommended GPU etc for Lightroom/PS. I'd need to buy everything else along with this combo (other than a spare M.2 drive I have) to turn into a full fledged working PC. I also have a monitor/KB/mouse. Most of my workflow is in Lightroom with occasional Photoshop. DNG conversion, etc. Could buy a tower prebuilt but always been curious about making my own after watching Linus Tech and similar channels on YT over the years.

No real budget but including the setup for sale here probably around $1500 or so. Ideally a bit less even under $1k but doubt that's possible with GPU prices. Could stretch a bit north of $1500 also for something pretty cool.

EDIT 2 - I should also note that there would be no gaming on this setup. Strictly a photo editing workstation with occasional web browsing and a slight possibility of dual-purposing as a Plex server. Any gaming would be relegated to consoles or iPad only.

You should definitely at least update to latest bios because of an issue with Asus boards melting due to an issue with setting SoC voltage to high. Latest bios fixes this, see gamers nexus video on "Scumbag ASUS: Overvolting CPUs & Screwing the Customer"

Also for others buying this board and installing windows for the first time, make sure you google the "OOBE\BYPASSnro.cmd" hack to get pass the wifi/lan issue with the board not having the correct lan/wifi drivers. See: https://rog.asus.com/us/motherboa..._download/. I installed all the drivers from the asus website to a usb stick and then I executed the "AsusSetup.exe" application for each driver. Alternatively, once you get pass to create a local windows account, you might get a notification from ArmoryCrate to install all the drivers for you.

I would also enable EXPO 2 in BIOS and disable fast boot in the Boot tab. The other options had stability issues for me.
