This Fanatec race bundle comes with:
CSL DD - 5 NM motor
CSL Steering Wheel P1 V2
CSL Pedal

This bundle takes $149 off the price if you were to buy each of them separately. This is a really good deal for a direct drive motor set up that includes everything you need to start racing. Direct drive systems are much quieter and responsive compared to belt or gear systems. The CSL DD is one of the cheapest DD set ups out there and is a very good system for beginning to advance users alike.

I'd like to add some thoughts here for those just starting out with sim raciing. After doing some research into the world of entry level sim racing, I've seen that for the budget there are some great options. For each price point, I've listed what I think are the best in class. A note that prices for the T300RS GT have gone up quite a bit due to demand/popularity during peak COVID, it used to be available for $300 or less and I don't think any major upgrades have been made to it since it came out either.
$200 -Thrustmaster TMX
$300-350 - Logitech G923/Thrustmaster T248
~$400 - Thrustmaster T300 RS GT

You can look up reviews for each and it may be good to look up comparison reviews as well to figure out what best suits your needs. The drive system for the cheaper units generally use gears or a belt. Gears are the most noisy as well as least accurate and powerful for force feedback (FFB). Belts are much quieter and provide better feedback control, but can be less reliable. Direct drive systems are the best in terms of feedback, noise and longevity but are much more expensive. There was a time that getting a basic DD system would easily cost $700 or more but the CSL DD is a breakthrough DD with an affordable price point. Many individuals who aren't sure of how much they'll like sim racing may start out with a cheaper wheel and then upgrade their set up over time. You can save some money in the long run if you buy something that can be incrementally upgraded such as the pedals, or wheel. Logitech has a better upgrade path than thrustmaster products in my opinion, but the wheel base on the T300RS is generally considered much better than the Logitech g923 so there are trade offs to consider.

I was planning to get the T300RS GT until I saw this deal which is cheaper than the T300 right now! Ultimately I decided that I was willing to shell out the extra dosh to get a system that has a ton of upgradeability - you can increase the torque to 8 NM with an upgraded power supply, there are pedal upgrade kits as well as wheel upgrades. And that would keep me happy for a long time maybe indefinitely without every having to buy another wheelbase and start from scratch. Hope this helps folks!
Recession is upon us considering these deals lately.
fanatec customer support is trash. they are great in marketing; poor in production quality and service. if you have no problems with your device, it is a great deal. good luck.

I'd be interested in a similar deal for PC and PS. It seems the cheapest for these platforms is $699 right now.

Awww dammit too bad I'm too invested in the thrustmaster ecosystem. Fanatec is usually outta stock forever. I've never seen anything from then under 500

Would this be a good set-up for an elderly driver that wants to test, maintain, or improve their regular driving skills with a realistic driving sim?

I agree, I play Forza on the PC, but I only have the PS5 and Switch for consoles, it would be nice to be able to use this with both systems.

I still upvoted it, because it is a good deal.

Should I be looking to add anything more than the base plate? I'm not using it in a rig, just connecting it to my desk. Probably playing forza, need for speed shift and farming simulator.

You can further save some $ for the boost kit if you purchase from Aliexpress. Took 2 weeks to get the higher voltage power supply and my GT DD pro recognized it no problem. Saved around 110$ going that route.

I'm interested in getting into sim racing, but would prefer to have 3 pedals vs 2. How could you upgrade this for 3? Would you need to buy another pedal setup? Also, could you get the Logitech manual shifter to pair with this or would you need to go with Fanatec?
