There are mods for controller that help with steering.

I've played with a lot of people that use mouse steering and controller and they were fast.

But personally I couldn't drive with a controller. The learning curve seems higher than using a wheel and pedals.

This game's graphics looks like it's from 2006. A little cartoonish and not at all realistic. Older racing games on my very outdated PlayStation Portable look better.

Yes but there are probably mods for the graphics. Just FYI it's highly praised for the quality of the driving simulation. That said, I personally think AC is a bit overrated but it's the wide number of mods available which keep this title interesting. I enjoy ACC more than AC but there are no mods for Competizionr. It's primarily a GT3 race game.

The price is pretty good. But I purchased these from cdkeys months ago for similar.

As a paranoid, how do I know if the mods are virus-free? Can you play on a mouse and keyboard instead of a wheel or controller?

That's what I'm afraid of. The guys praising it probably picked this game up years ago when it came out and it's probably a bit dated compared to what's out here now. I mean the biggest part of being in a sim is to feel like you're really there and that's hard to do with unrealistic graphics.

I have never played this title but I will take good physics in a racing sim over a not so good sim that looks great.

AC is a very mod-friendly platform, and one of the things the mods can do is make it like being there. r/simracing always has videos that demo how good things can look, if i wasn't on mobile i'd go look for some.

I would strongly recommend NOT buying the base game on this deal, and getting the Ultimate version instead. Steam makes it a pain in the ass if you later want to upgrade. At this level of discount, it's worth splurging for the extra $5 and just having all the addons instead of trying to piecemeal them later.

Been part of AC since alpha. It is amazing. I haven't played for a year now since no time. What's the current best VR set up for the game? My GTX1080ti probably can't handle things any more.

I spent hundreds of hours at Nordscheliefe online driving miatas/paneramas/slower cars. Amazing and so fun.
