Far far far worth the money considering the sheer number and scale of the mods for this game
Is it worth it to play with a controller ? I heard it's only amazing with a steering wheel

I have never played this title but I will take good physics in a racing sim over a not so good sim that looks great.
Thankfully this game is both.

Looks good by default and looks REALLY good with CSP and Sol and/or Pure mods installed.

This x10000000

Also for those asking, yes supports VR, and VR is a makes a significant difference on how the game feels

The game is very inexpensive right now for what you get. Out of the box the graphics are dated but the physics are good, and all of the cars handle differently. With mods you'll have great looking game with endless hours of gameplay, assuming you're into sim racing. Absolutely a no brainer at retail price, literally a must purchase at this price - again assuming you're into cars/sim racing.

I'll add if you're just getting into sim racing, it can become an endless money pit of gear and upgrades, so just be aware of what you are getting into. Don't go in with a controller, 100% you need a wheel for the proper experience. At a minimum you should get a t300rs, but for a little bit more money you can get a lower end direct drive. Things spiral down the rabbit hole reaaaaaaally fast but the results are rewarding. Will it ever replace going out in a real car? Never. Will it get you 80% of the way there without having to worry about damaging your car or the cost of consumables, absofarkinglutely.

I am not willing to spend hundreds on a wheel and pedals. Is this game still worth it?

With Assetto Corsa 2 coming out next year, is this game even worth it since it may go lower in price? Or will Assetto Corsa 2 lack mods?

All I know is that Ultimate edition is older and has mod support while competizone does not. If you like downloading mods to enhance the experience, it is the one for you.

If you only like GT racing then get the newer Assetto Corsa Competizione as it's a completely different game that offers no mod support.

Assetto Corsa Ultimate edition would be the one to get if you want addon tracks, cars etc. There is a massive amount of addons available. If you want to race a pinto they gotchu if you want to race a Caddy LMDH they gotchu. If you want to race a backyard go cart track ok, if you want to race history like Rolex 24, Lemans, Nurburgring done.

Content Manager is pretty much a must have. There is a free version and a paid version.
CSP, Sol, Pure, and Premier are must haves for enhancing the graphics and updating the look of the game to current visuals. Older versions are released free to the public while newer and beta versions are Patreon items although there are "ways" to find the new versions. Guys voice is a bit eh up to the 1:23 mark is a look at how the game can look rest is install guide for his Premier filter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dODG8eNHW4&t=1s

Pyyer track extensions are a must get also again Patreon but "ways" are out there. These update tracks to F1, WEC, IMSA spec with pit counts, configs, and graphics.

Peace

Can I play this with the Oculus Quest 2 headset and steering wheel?
I've been trying to figure this out too over the past few weeks. I don't think so, I think we'd need an actual PC to run ACC, to which we can tether the Oculus. Hopefully somebody more knowledgeable can chime in.

Also, somewhat related: how does ACC run over cloud-gaming like boosteroid on a Mac?

I'm assuming that the oculus can't be easily connected to a remote server running ACC via my mac at home, so I won't even get my hopes up with that... unless somebody was able to get SteamVR to work over cloud-gaming?

As a paranoid, how do I know if the mods are virus-free? Can you play on a mouse and keyboard instead of a wheel or controller?
That's a fair question about viruses. I downloaded a couple things based on videos I saw on youtube from what appeared to be reputable gamers. There are several mod websites, read the reviews before you download anything. I do remember seeing some reviews saying to beware. Some mods are free, many cost money, the mods you buy direct from a third party developer or a popular, trusted website are more likely to be safe. But yeah, I've been cautious in that respect.

I never tried using a keyboard for a driving game. I think there is support for that but sounds tough to me.

Both AC and ACC are so worth it. AC can look really good with mods, and there's tons of mod support for different tracks, roads, etc. ACC in my opinion is top notch and I have sunk hours and hours and went down the rabbit hole of direct drive, cockpit, new pedals, vr etc. Acc is tough on vr but with a 3070 and tweaking you can run it and enjoy it. Maybe a 3060. If you like sim racing and want to get competitive you can find plenty of leagues out there for acc.
