i highly recommend that you try them at a local music store before buying. also, these keyboard boxes are huge and they aren't light. I'm very skeptical of UPS/FEDEX handling the shipping. One I got from Guitarcenter had broken 1 key as I opened the box. I was drawn to roland 30 or yamaha p125 but went with p125 since I don't need many sounds and I was able to play fast repeated notes (trills or the same note hit multiple times) and yamaha was able to make the sounds on every single of them. Roland skipped here and there. play them often. come back a few days later and try them more, then you decide.

Great deal. I have a F701 "decor" style that has the same guts as this, minus the ports and buttons. Speakers are a bit better. In hind sight I should have brought this instead.

Sounds beautiful and bright (typical Roland) It has a "piano design" EQ thing if you want to tone it down Yamaha style.

I highly recommend splurging and getting the tri-pedal RPU-3 or at least adding another single pedal. These units have a nice trick where you can set another pedal to be a layer volume control. As in, you set dual layer piano and strings but you can control the volume of the strings with the pedal. It really does open up some musical creativity.

Very good deal. Roland's build quality is second to none. This PHA 4 action is used across fp10-30x-60x. It's a heavier action vs the other brands.

I agree on the action and was very tempted due to the load of features. I'm pretty sure this model shows as a usb audio interface and has an input for a microphone which is quite cool for anyone interested in recording.

sweetwater does the best job, they ship it in box within a box + padding, so it's huge.

someone else might post their adorama experience.

As an Fp30 and Steinway owner I am deeply wounded by your comment. Frown

Personally, I don't think the incremental upgrades over the FP-30X warrant the price difference.

Also to note is that this action releases keys a tad too slow (for my liking anyway). Which is fine for a beginner, but it makes playing fast repetitive keys and trills difficult or impossible. I own the FP-10 and that's the only thing I don't like about the action.

I'm Steinway owner myself. but I didn't like the fp30s sounds.. it comes down to personal preference.

If I were picking between this digital piano and the Roland FP-10 from Costco (labeled as FRP-1 Digital Piano Bundle: https://www.costco.com/roland-frp...19453.html), which one is more suitable for both a new player and seasoned players to share in our house?

Would have bought it if it was a keytar. Do keytars ever go on sale?

That's not my experience. I'm a fan of Roland, but Kawai and older Casio (PX-160) actions were much heavier on the keyboards I've owned. I found Roland and Yamaha actions are fairly similar across brands.

That's a fantastic deal, on par with the Kawai ES520 and much better than the Korg range of keyboards.

Is it possible those units were defective or running firmware that was older and might have been fixed? I had the PHA-50 In a piano once (I think that was the action) and it had no issues maintaining speed for any of that. Granted that is their best Action, but I have never heard this complaint about Roland Pianos before.
