The ice will be frozen but a bit wet when they drop into the container, depending on how hot it is in the room (or outside). Best to put them into a plastic bag and then into a cooler or freezer instead of leaving them in this machine. They'll all end up stuck to each other since they're a little wet, but you just smash the bag of ice against something and break off what you need, and put the rest back into your cooler. Think of it like the donut shaped ice you get in bags at the gas station, except smaller in size. Name of the game here is fast production and not dense iceberg ice.

I paid about $100 a couple of years ago, and think this current price is definitely worth it for home use and the kids.
Thinking for this price it might make a good addition to my hurricane kit.
If I could run it pretty easily off my generator then could keep beer cold in cooler without having to open fridge door
