I bought an open-box 13th gen Intel CPU version of the Yoga 9i, which I believe is identical form/fit/function. This is a really beautiful laptop and I've got no complaints.

An OLED screen is really nice but it'll cost you in terms of battery life.

Nice way to trick people, tbh. You haven't mentioned which open box it is neither in your title nor in your description. In your description you've stated it's $150 less than the previous deal which is for FAIR CONDITION whereas in reality it's around $50 cheaper (open-box excellent) than the last deal which was also open-box excellent.

Nonetheless, it's still $50 lesser and would still be considered a fine enough deal, but at least be transparent and don't try to mislead the people over here with your vague title and description..
Dude you post these open box deals constantly. You know it's almost random the quality of the fair vs excellent open box items. I put YMMV and open box in the title. And it entirely depends on what's available near you. If you only have excellent near you then that's the price for you hence YMMV. But you can easily get a brand new return that is marked fair. I picked up a "fair" Zenbook a couple days ago that was perfect with one battery cycle.

This one has risk of missing stylus, but people have reported it missing on excellent olen box laptops that have stylus from Best Buy.

What do I have to gain by misleading people? Do we get paid to post on Slickdeals? News to me I'll await my check.

You're comparing the price of an open-box excellent to a fair condition in your description and that is misleading, because a layman would consider it a big discount from your description.
Chances are when that previous deal was posted, the fair condition of it at that time must have been closer to the price tag you've mentioned over here.

Not saying you can't post open box deals nor calling this a bad one, but at least be transparent and accurate with your description. That saves the members' time instead of them having to open the link and search for it themselves. That's just all I'm saying, not picking a fight or an argument.
I already fixed the title, but I do not see Best Buy open box items the same way you do. It's YMMV what quality you get no matter what they marked it at. An excellent can have 15 battery cycles and a missing item while fair can be a brand new laptop that the customer didn't even take the plastic off of.

I recommend picking up the cheapest you have available and return it if you don't get a good one. Make two store pick up orders to double your chances if you want.

Thank you. Because the price you've mentioned '707.99' reflects the 'fair' condition specifically, and its better to state that in your title and description so that people know the price mentioned is for that very condition without them having to open the link.

Anyway, good deal. Hope people like it.
If I'm honest I would put in the description.

"Best Buy open box items are completely YMMV on quality. Users report "fair" condition items have been brand new while some "excellent" condition items have been damaged or missing parts."

But I know some people would get all huffy. There are a lot of people who post in the open box threads about how open box laptops are always damaged or floor models or whatever. Same with refurb threads.

If this is the same laptop it doesn't seem to hurt it that much. Seems about average for a 13-14" i7 p cpu. https://www.ultrabookreview.com/5...9i-review/

My experience with BB open box for a Samsung galaxy book 2 in 1 wasn't great. First one didn't come with the stylus which is $99 on it's own and it had scratches on the case. I returned it and bought another, which also didn't have the stylus, but no scratches. I complained to support both times, but all they would say was to return it. I don't think I have a use for the stylus so I kept it since it saved like $700 off new. I'd probably do it again, but it's definitely a YMMV situation.

I bought two excellent condition laptops from Best Buy. One was defective immediately and did not power up and the other had a defective monitor within 2 months.

Picked up a fair condition one. Has stylus and case. I cannot find the damage that the sticker on the box says. It says screen scratched, but I cannot find any scratches on it anywhere. Other than some thread I found in the box it looks brand new.z The employees that handle the open box stuff are really terrible at their job it seems. I also ordered a satisfactory one at another location, but they first said it's ready for pick up and then an hour later cancelled it saying not available.

Very YMMV with Best Buy open box.

Anecdotal, and you don't even mention brand. Plenty of open box excellent units, in my experience (which is purchases of numerous open box laptops of all levels AND many NIB units), looked like they're been used minimally or not at all. Heck, picked up an Asus Rog Ally the other day in excellent open box condition, expecting bad light bleed, sticking buttons, or worst case scenario, one of the 2 fans being non operable (all of which are well documented online given the somewhat rushed production and average QC). I was pleasantly surprised that it looked barely used, with all the plastic peels reapplied.

Picked up an open box Satisfactory 2022 Yoga 9i that said it was a display. The condition is basically flawless though, and while I can imagine it was hooked up to a power supply the entire time, the battery life doesn't seem bad (running a windows battery reports shows just 7 cycles used and 71+ kwh battery capacity of the rated 75 so whatever damage was done, it wasn't all that much). I think it's an excellent laptop for the price of ~$720.

The more people shit on Best Buy for having variability in their condition ratings, the fewer options we're going to have in the future. Aside from Microcenter which is regional and not accessible to a lot of people around the country or in Canada, there exist very few options for those of us that want to buy locally. The return policy being almost no questions asked is awesome. I've never, in all my time, ever had a return refused or even seriously questioned (unless I stated explicitly that something was wrong with it, in which case your jr. detectives might run some tests--just say "I decided to go with something else" and it's smooth sailing every time).

I don't think people understand what a blessing it is to have a decent option for a big box store. I hate youtubers or general scammy folks that buy brand new sealed units to mess around with or post videos using, then return for no good reason. These open box units are such an opportunity because they present the option to try out for 2 weeks basically guilt and inconvenience free.

TLDR: Best Buy open box laptops are generally almost always a deal so STFU and be grateful it's an option we still have.

Mine is pretty much flawless, but had to be a floor model. 9 cycles, 72,480/75,000 and a lot of hours active. Seems like it was then bought as open box in February this year. Used for a month and then returned. It only had a few minutes on battery before that, then about 36 hrs on battery and hundreds on AC.

I can't find a single scratch or anything on it.

I may end up returning it since the warranty only has a month left, that sort of sucks. But otherwise it's a really nice laptop. Only complaint so far is the screen bezel is a bit thick.
