What does everyone in the modern world need to know?

Renowned psychologist Jordan B. Peterson's answer to this most difficult of questions uniquely combines the hard-won truths of ancient tradition with the stunning revelations of cutting-edge scientific research.

Humorous, surprising and informative, Dr. Peterson tells us why skateboarding boys and girls must be left alone, what terrible fate awaits those who criticize too easily, and why you should always pet a cat when you meet one on the street.

What does the nervous system of the lowly lobster have to tell us about standing up straight (with our shoulders back) and about success in life? Why did ancient Egyptians worship the capacity to pay careful attention as the highest of gods? What dreadful paths do people tread when they become resentful, arrogant and vengeful?

Dr. Peterson journeys broadly, discussing discipline, freedom, adventure and responsibility, distilling the world's wisdom into 12 practical and profound rules for life. 12 Rules for Life shatters the modern commonplaces of science, faith and human nature, while transforming and ennobling the mind and spirit of its readers.

Awesome book. Thanks OP! Had the audiobook, but for this price I'm definitely happy to pick it up on Kindle too. Will be nice to reference the actual book and for copying down quotes from it.

Truly disturbing how many people take this absolute weirdo seriously, especially those who use him as some sort of father figure.

I think he had a good message a few years ago but more recently just seems to be bitter and complain about everything.

Ah yes the "absolute weirdo" with over 20,000 google citations, 3 successful books, a podcast interviewing scientists and philosophers, previous Harvard professor and a much sought after clinician - who's famous for telling the youth to clean their room. So dramatic lol.

Or the very stable genius who tweets things like this [twitter.com]:
Quote :
Read this, all you liars and butchers, offering "gender-affirming care" to minors
And seriously ask How the bell can you love with yourselves
Prison is too good for you
Or this [twitter.com]:
Quote :
There are no People of Color
You bloody race-baiting Radicals
@NPR
Or this [twitter.com]...:
Quote :
"Collapse of merit-based admissions"
DIE universities
You richly deserve to...
And that's just in the last 24 hours! He's an unhinged wackjob. Even if at one time he was a successful academic, he's turned into a raving lunatic and no one should take him seriously, let alone give him money.

"I dreamed I saw my maternal grandmother sitting by the bank of a swimming pool, that was also a river. In real life, she had been a victim of Alzheimer's disease, and had regressed, before her death, to a semi-conscious state. In the dream, as well, she had lost her capacity for self-control. Her genital region was exposed, dimly; it had the appearance of a thick mat of hair. She was stroking herself, absent-mindedly. She walked over to me, with a handful of pubic hair, compacted into something resembling a large artist's paint-brush. She pushed this at my face. I raised my arm, several times, to deflect her hand; finally, unwilling to hurt her, or interfere with her any farther, I let her have her way. She stroked my face with the brush, gently, and said, like a child, "isn't it soft?" I looked at her ruined face and said, "yes, Grandma, it's soft."

Child genital mutilation and castration is wrong. Race baiting is wrong and racism is wrong. Those are the quotes you don't like.

93% 5 and 4 star reviews.

Leaving the politics and cancel culture out, it's a good book.

Peterson is smart, well-educated and speaks the truth.
