I'd pass on a unit with this low power, for a beginner all you can weld is sheet metal which is not too beginner friendly. If you can find something like a Hobart handler 140 you can weld a little thicker material. If you have 220 look for something on the order of 180 amps. Dual voltage sounds great and if you are traveling without a regular 220 source you can still get the job done but welding with a 220 machine is so much nicer you won't want to go back to 120.
It's not what you're thinking regarding your outlet amps/power needed.
The 'secondary' circuit of the welder can put out 90 amps, tho at less than 30 volts. That's the electrode & ground end you're actually welding with.
But the 'primary' circuit of the welder (which draws the power from your outlet) only needs no more than a 20 amp outlet, and drawing 120 volts.

It's not like an electric stove where it's drawing 50 amps (on the primary) and where you'd need a 50 amp circuit & outlet.

Shop teacher here! This is a fancy version of the harbor freight 110V. This welder is perfect for some light welding on 1/8-3/16 mild steel. What's that? Your wrought iron porch railing need fixing? Need to patch that lawn mower deck? Want to weld some box tubing together to make a table to learn, this is the perfect welder for you. If you want to get into fabrication work, look for something better.

The wire that comes with this is junk. My hot take, on these budget welders, the wire is as important as the machine. It is like putting a cheap blade on a saw.

The FC-90 is made by Century. Lincoln Electric just owns the brand. LE welders are amazing and while this is a great little welder, it is NOT a Lincoln.
Excellent and educated reply! Thank you!

Yes, I have used wire welders like this for building honeybee stands out of 3/16" vertical L-shaped storage rack scraps. Welded for hours a day and it worked just fine. In fact, incredibly effective for light metal usage.

I must give credit to my metal shop industrial arts teacher who taught me how to weld nearly 50 years ago.

Keep up the good job!

PS If anyone here is welding for anything more than a couple of hours, use the full face shield and sun screen on exposed parts of your skin. I forgot and wore goggles...and my forehead looked like a tomatoed and peeled for days!

welded for 10 years with multiple certs. I agree. Get good wire, it makes a difference. My favorite is ESAB wire.

The wire provided is all position wire. You can weld flat/horizontal/vertical ect.

I don't think this is actually a Lincoln welder... It appears to be a Century welder based on pictures and reviews.

All low power welders are rebranded Chinese machines.
I used to work in the industry, it's not worth it to design and test low end machines.

If you're getting into welding for DIY and have the space, get oxyacetylene. Way more useful if not particularly great. I used to weld/braze often b4 kids but over the last decade I've only welded twice. Mostly I've been releasing stuck car and boat stuff and bending & cutting metal and the same rig works for that. You can also just burn rust off steel which is handy with old trailers. As a bonus, the oxygen tank gets a BBQ ready to cook in no time.

I just bought the yeswelder https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08CBBHFX5/
last week before the sale for $100. It's basically the same as this. I used on a 200ft cord outside in the heatno problems.

Did you get the 135? Running on 110 power? If so, how do you like it?

I heard from some reviews that they don't include an accurate chart for settings and metal thickness so it's a big guessing game.

Another deal to consider is the Klutch at Northern tool. It's output is a little more than this unit and it weighs about 6 lbs more. I'm guessing the Klutch spools system is more robust is one reason for the extra weight. I have a model up from this Klutch and it has performed flawlessly for me. It welds way more than its specifications.
