These are slightly larger than regular AA. I haven't actually measured, but I think part of the size difference is the thick wrapping showing the brand on the battery. This sometimes prevents the battery from making good contact on the terminals. I've had to hit them and press them in hard to overcome these issues. I have a toddler with a lot of toys so we keep rechargeable batteries around. I typically buy eneloops and thought I'd give these a try and not worry if they get lost or disappear. These are typically around $1 per battery while I pay full price for eneloops or around $2 per battery on sale.

Eneloop has a patent on maintaining NIMH charge level longer-term (e.g. 15% down after 1 year idle). AmazonBasics NIMH used to be Eneloop, but now are through a third party. I don't know which third party that is, but some of them have pretty intense discharge (like 30% down a month).
This is likely why ratings have started to be so bad - people expect to not to have to use batteries fresh off the charger, and for devices to still work if they sat idle in a drawer for six months.
I have some of these and they have been good. This price is good, if you select 3 sets and qualify for 5+ subscribe and save, they come out to about .78 cents a piece.
Anyone have a recommendation for rechargeable AA batteries that work in an eneloop charger since the concensus is these aren't great(and unfortunately I bought some like 2 months ago(but haven't used them to know if they are good or bad)).
As others have suggested, Eneloop. Also, if you live near an IKEA, their Ladda AA batteries are a hard to beat at $10 for a 4-pack.
I was planning to pick some up (despite the complaints here) for the kids Xbox and Wii remotes (where the batteries are regularly abused and lost). I'd rather not pay premium price for something there's a good chance will disappear in 6 months.
