So please allocate a few days (both in Bali and when you returned home) to adjust your body clock.
Also if you have never been to Asia before, my tips are below:
1. The most important one - never get cold drinks with ice cubes in it .. unless the seller can guarantee that the ice cubes are made with boiled water. in most of Asia, water is not drinkable from the faucet.
2. drink only known bottled water brand or boiled water. Hot tea is safe as long you do not put ice cubes in it.
3. always get freshly cooked food and only eat cooked food.
other than that, Bali is worth visiting though it will be quite a journey going there and back
The Dominican Republic will be another option. I have been to the Dominican and Bali.
Bali is more traditional (based on Hindu) - temples, paddy fields, traditional foods, cheap hotels to 7-8 stars hotels (literarily the most expensive hotels in the world).
Dominican Republic is just a short hop flight from US, more similar to US culture, food/water is generally safe, has beaches too and I found it more relaxing.
Never been to Mexico .. so cannot chime on it.

Japan the exchange rate is crazy good but go waaay the hell north to avoid the heat. It's cooler than Bali.
Oh Japan, I would love to go there but in right season. Spring is probably best. Honestly you got me thinking, my problem is I have no idea where to start. I might have to check some travel packages. Thanks.

Indonesia is actually cooler than Mexico in the summer months for what it's worth.
