These have a 3M strip on the back so they can be stuck in places a keyring won't fasten to. Not everyone needs that, but it's useful for a lot of equipment and certain types of cases.

Why not just use 3M tape and stick directly? AirTag doesn't really need physical protection, and this just adds bulk. It should be easy to remove glue residue from the metal side.

I bought 4-pack new off ebay "buy it now" - so keep an eye out there for deals when suppliers have surplus to unload.

Or you can use google shopping link to find other good deals on these
