What does a 12 TB SSD cost?

*edit* n/m. My points are irrelevant regarding a hard drive intended for surveillance.

"Expensive"? Compared to what? 12 TB is a lot of storage, especially in a single drive!

For whatever it's worth, I have two 6TB and one 3TB WD Purple drives. Over 6 years ago I paid $230 for the first of my two 6TB WD Purple Drives. I'm not using them for surveillance, so I'll probably buy a WD Red drive next time.

Quite. Around $2000 perhaps?

Paying for something is expensive. I like free shid and gifts. If you dont wnat your drives and they are in good condition I will be happy to take them from you provided that you pay for shipping.

Decades for a mechanical hard drive is a pretty good lifetime.

This heavy depends on brand and what they're being used in. In a rack, it's safer than just sitting in a desktop pc being banged in by a chair constantly.

You should call all the data centers and let them know they are using the wrong drives. I am sure they will be grateful for your sharing your deep expertise.

How much wattage does the 12TB require? How about the WD 4TB. My desktop has a 300 wat PSU. Ist that going to be an issue if I add either the 12, 4 or even and 8TB?

I agree with this. They're still milking us with ssd's. They can pack so much more data in the physical footprint of an hdd it's ridiculous. And much cheaper to manufacture. We could be seeing 100tb ssd's right now, but of course they will drag it out for another 10 years with small increments of capacity

I'm looking at this: https://serverpartdeals.com/produ...hard-drive

This is a new drive, not refurb. Seems like a winner over this WD Purple, right?
