At least 60fps 1080p ultra gpu like 3050, RTX 3000, T1000/T2000, P3200 which start at $300-500
45fps M2200 isn't too bad for $200 for 1080p med setting, but its going to unreliable for extended gaming.
these all things are 5 pounders
32gb ram, Intel 9th 6-core H series or better
With these certified dell over 3 years old, I would clean the fans and repaste the dry cpu thermal paste to avoid heat freeze
Cons
-Gets hot underneath
-Below-average brightness
I don't want to buy a hot laptop or something that has a noisy fan to keep it cool
Annoyed having such a thing for work already
Soo I'll just wait for the next one
Most people saying just put the money towards 12 gen intel if sticking to windows
Fast and way more efficient and prices seem decent for new
In the year I've been at this job (I was used to Thinkpads before) the only 7490 that came back to me damaged beyond hope was one that fell off a forklift.
BUT, of course my bad luck, it had that issue you can see all over by googling, where it would freeze just by being picked up or moved. I mean something as simple as being nudged into a different position on my bed. Weird part was that I could not force it to do it, to try and replicate it. When I tried shaking it or picking it up and down, it would'nt freeze. Then randomly when I am just using it like normal, it would do it. A force shutdown was the only way to fix the issue.
I reseated the ram and HD like a saw suggested by some people on one of the Dell support threads about the issue. I thought it worked, until it didnt lol. On the latest freeze, there the screen went black, and I happened to see vertical banding right down the center of the lcd, about 2 inches wide. I never noticed it, but it had to go back anyway because of the freezing issue.
It also had more scratches that I expected from Grade A but it had a battery from 2022 which I feel was luck, so I hated having to return it.
All that said, I'm looking to buy another one, if any touchscreen i7 models pop up.

Back getting my spare 5490 tablet this week, I wouldn't relie on a touch laptop. We'll see how it goes.
I had annoying random errors happen when i get two $100 Onn touch laptops and had to return both.
The non touch dell laptop run flawlessly, a ordered a few.

The half off coupon worked for me. $328 shipped with tax - 7% cash back - Amex Platinum $200 Dell credit = a pretty darn good deal to me worth trying again lol.
This one was a little more than the last one , but it has 32gb of ram which I was going to upgrade the last one to, which came with 8. So it saves me more in the end. Just gotta upgrade the ssd and turn it into a hackintosh.
Fingers crossed this one is a keeper.
